THE BOLLOX

Liverpool have Carlos Tevez of Manchester City on their shopping list of potential Suarez replacements
Argentinian would be surprisingly cheap big-name sub for Kop idol, as he only has a year left on his contract at Eastlands
Liverpool are considering a shock move for Carlos Tevez as a replacement for Luis Suarez.
The Anfield giants, who tried to sign Tevez when Kenny Dalglish was manager, have the Manchester City marksman on a list of possibles compiled in case Suarez pushes ahead with his bid to leave.
With just a year left on his contract at Eastlands, Tevez could be available to the Reds this summer for as little as £8million.
The biggest stumbling block would be the 29-year-old's huge wages, said to be around £200,000-a-week.
But the acquisition of Tevez, who scored 17 goals in all competitions last season, would go some way to offsetting the loss of losing £40m-rated Suarez.
Tevez is understood to favour waiting until new City boss Manuel Pellegrini takes charge before deciding on his future, so he can find out whether he remains in the club’s plans.
Deposed champions City have already landed winger Jesus Navas from Sevilla and medfielder Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk for a combined total of £54million.
And they look set to spend again to revamp a squad that finished a distant 11 points behind title winners Manchester United.
Spanish giants Real Madrid and, as we revealed last month, new European champions Bayern Munich are keen on Suarez.
Juventus and Monaco are also watching the situation ready to follow up their interest after the Uruguayan confirmed recently that he wants out

City move cost Fernandinho £4 million
Image
Fernandinho waived £4 million in loyalty payments to secure his move to Manchester City, according to widespread reports.
Fernandinho completed his move from Shakhtar Donetsk to the Etihad Stadium on Thursday after long negotiations between the two sides.
With City unwilling to meet Shakhtar's £34 million asking price, the 28-year-old Brazil international is said to have sacrificed the bonus payment to allow the Premier League side to pay just £30 million.
ESPN had been informed that City had been looking to pay closer to £20 million, while the Ukrainian club had originally sought more than £42 million.
Shakhtar, meanwhile, have finalised the £6 million signing of midfielder Wellington Nem from Fluminense on a five-year deal.
"I know this club is used to winning and collecting lots of titles," Wellington, 21, told the club's official website. "That was the main reason I came to Donetsk. Besides, lots of Brazilians play here and have a good reputation."

Five problems with Liverpool’s reported swoop for Carlos Tevez
Liverpool are reportedly ready to stun the football world with an approach for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.
Reports were starting to emerge that Tevez had agreed to join Serie A giants Juventus but Liverpool seemingly want the controversial Argentinian striker as a replacement for Luis Suarez should their star striker leave the club this summer.
Manchester City are apparently keen to offload Tevez who has never been afraid in publicly voicing the issues he has with England and living in the country while he works as a professional footballer.
“I don’t even leave my house. When my contract ends I will not return to Manchester ever – not even on holiday,” he told an Argentinian chat show host in the summer of 2011.
Here are five major problems with Liverpool’s planned pursuit of the striker.

His Feelings
The above quote demonstrates Tevez’s feelings towards Manchester, which suggest he may be reluctant to commit to a long term move anywhere else in England.
Of course two years has passed since that point, but Tevez clearly still has big issues with the country and wouldn’t even still be in the Premier League had he managed to secure that move to AC Milan.

The Fans
Liverpool supporters may be very reluctant in accepting this sort of deal from their club.
Liverpool and Manchester are two cities with huge football rivalries and the fact Tevez has played for both Manchester clubs is not something which will sit well with the Liverpool supporters who pay hard earned money to go and watch their team every week.
Tie that in with his feelings about the North West and it doesn’t make for a very good recipe.

The Cost
Liverpool are a side trying to create a sustainable and viable financial structure and business model.
Liverpool’s owner John Henry recently said he wants Liverpool to become self sustainable in that respect.
Signing Tevez may not cost much in terms of an initial fee but the cost of his wages, which will likely have to be higher than any other player at Liverpool, is not something the Liverpool board may commission.

His Age
Liverpool’s board make it quite clear they want the club to be looking at signing younger players when they rejected a planned deal for Ashley Williams of Swansea City.
It makes no sense for them to go back on that angle just because it’s a higher profile player costing a slightly smaller fee.
The club’s managing director Ian Ayre has also suggested if there are younger and talented options alongside this sort of deal, the club will always opt for the younger player.
“Where a player is younger and talented with the right level of ability, we will always go for the younger option because it’s a better long term investment,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

Competition
It’s very naïve to think that if a player like Tevez becomes available, there won’t be any competition for him.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could all come into the equation to sign him. They can all cope in a financial sense and they can all offer Tevez the chance to move away from the North West and down to the possibly more appealing location of London.

This Tevez-Liverpool link really has me in hysterics.

This mid-table outfit who once had a good 20 years, really think they are still a world power. Suarez has wondered WTF he's got himslef into and wants to fuck off now he has made a name in Europe, and they really think Tevez would entertain anything other than a top club or a return to Argentina.

I like to skulk about on TEAMTALK to 'interact' with other fans and some tool on Liverpool site the other day said how Ian St John, Kenny Dalglish and others were 'unknown' before Liverpool got them. Dalglish was of course the British transfer record bought with my pools money!

Don't consider Liverpool to be a threat or a rival but I wouldn't sell to them even if they offered us the earth. Especially as we drew with them twice last year and they capatulated to the Rags twice.

Doesn't make sense selling him to Liverpool. I thought the only reason for selling him was so he can go back to Argentina.
If that's not the case. Keep him. Don't sell him to a rival PL team.

To be fair, Liverpool aren't a rival. Not in the real sense of the word, Chelsea are though, we shouldn't sell anyone to them.

They have taken a few points off us and knocked us out of a cup these last few seasons. There is no reason to give them more artillery so they can become stronger.

Drew with them? I would say they figured out the science of turning 6 points into 2 points. Skertl passing to Tevez and giving him a 1-on-1 with the keeper was a gift, and wasn't it an own goal in the return leg late in the match that gave us the draw?
