I've posted a lot over the past year for the reasons outlined by NQDP in the OP. It gets tiresome scrolling through post after post of name calling and cock waving, and by the end of it you're wondering what the fuck the thread was about in the first place.

Still a great forum, cutting down on some of the crap would be nice though.

Every topic I open these days there are bunch of people having a fucking go at each other over who has followed City and for how long. It's tiresome. We are all Blues, some older, some newer. This used to be open place where everyone was welcome. The more the merrier.

I know what you are saying but there are two types who have never been welcome here. Rags and wums. It is an open place but perhaps a little more moderating would not go amiss. Off season brings out the madness but it does seem particularly mental this year. We may be all blue but some some a blue first and some are blue because they are fans of an individual who is blue. There is an inherent conflict therein. Maybe a few more yellow cards from the mods?

I don't agree with the idea that there should be some hierarchy who is bigger Blue than who. I hate the fact that Kippax doesn't post on this site anymore. If we went down that road, him (and Spiv) would wipe the floor with all of us. Yet I've met both of them over the years and there's not even hint of "I'm bigger Blue than you" with either of them. Maybe something to think about when people start dishing it out?

I've said it million times, I don't understand people who support one individual player or manager. I find it weird. Having said that, they are still entitled to post on this site. I just don't get it myself.

Re:moderating, I think you are right and I suppose us mods need to take a closer look. Having said that, it's not always as easy as it seems on surface. You can't just go banning people for having an opinion or going against the grain. I've been involved in heated argument or thousand over the years yet I've never thought people were not entitled to voice no matter how stupid they were. And one reason I started this topic was to calm people down and also deliver gently warning. We mods and lads don't want to start giving any cards but if things don't calm down as far as personal insults go, there will be measures taken.

One other thing, as a foreigner I've supported this club close to thirty years. City supporters used to welcome anyone with genuine interest. Yes we got the money now and yes most of the new supporters might be glory hunters to an extent but there might be one or two real gems among these people who will eventually wear it like another skin.

I don't think it's anything new. I've been posting for five years now and there's always been some arguing. Some people don't get on. That's life!

I think when I first joined I seem to remember Xavi posting that someone either messaged him or posted in a thread about his avatar and had a few digs at him. Vhero used to get a lot of shit. Some whopper made a random username up and joined the forum just to give me shit and try and wind me up. I just did a Bear and PM'd then and got on with my day.

I think Edge got a lot of shit and he was one of my favourite posters and now he doesn't post anymore which is a shame.

I think if someone is talking shit or WUMing then they're bound to get called out for it. I talk a lot of shit and I'm surprised that only a few respond to it.

It's going to happen. People shouldn't take it to heart it's an Internet forum. If you had a massive meet up, like what Gillie is planning, I can guarantee no one would say anything to someone they didn't like face to face. It's just part of the forum world isn't it?
