I would imagine they make sure he gets paid as a priority over Pelle, because his transfer fee is so much higher, but you never know.

Otherwise I don't suppose that the situation with Isco will be made any easier if we don't pay up on Pelle, unless there really is a buyout clause & we have activated it. They may try to be awkward.

Typical City.

Never the obvious path but an entertaining journey.

this could make sense, although wouldn't it mean that they failed to meet their contractual obligation to pay him for the last 2(?) months of the season. That would put them in breach of contract surely. Does a breach have to be 3 months before you can break a contract?

It also begs the question: did they also fail to pay Isco? In which case they can whistle for their buy out clause.

edit: trawling through the history it looks like they reserved their non-payment for the "technical team"

I'd have thought (but obviously don't know) that delays would more likely be down to him being on garden leave (still contracted to them) or disputes over him taking players or coaches with him (do non-solicitation clauses exist in football contracts?).

In any event, if you were Malaga wouldn't you pay him to get the right to 3.2m back?

Also, as long as we get our man it doesn't really matter if it takes a little time, when there are no players to train and when the player recruitment engine is doing fine. It's just us that are shitting it.

So Malaga have now officially announced Bernd Schuster as their new manager.
That must surely now mean they have no continuing contractual tie over Manuel.

Some in the media are now saying he will be appointed over the weekend but some gave the date as July 1.

Of course July 1st is the official date for the opening of the transfer window.

I would have a big press conference with the Count, new signings, sexy Hammer Horror style vampire girls, midgets, Ossy Osbourne, the full works.

Isn't that constructive dismissal? Or has he handed in his notice and is just working the 12 months, which they'll only let him out of if someone pays compensation?

As for his wages, the club now owe him 2 months and may be about to owe him a third, breaking his contract. Problem is they may not have money to pay him and even if they do, any money from us just goes to any creditors, so why bother?

It could be that they'll agree to City paying Pellegrini what he's owed out of the compensation or maybe that we get Pellegrini on a free but pay an extra couple of million for Isco. All seems a bit odd, but since he's on holiday anyway, there's no rush.

So Danny Mills

According to that report we are signing this bloke........... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauricio_Pellegrino

And we are leaving all our transfers to the end of the window THAT HASN'T EVEN OPENED YET (OFFICIALLY), so we haven't already got two of the most sort after players in Europe on board with others looking set before the window opens?!?!?

Well you slap head of a leach, you can go and do one and never ever comment ever again on the club who paid for you retire early TOSSER.

He's arrived:

Manchester City Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as first team manager.

Pellegrini, who joins the Club on a three year contract, will take up the role from 24th June.

Reacting to his appointment Pellegrini said: “I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity. The Club has a clear vision for success both on and off the pitch and I am committed to making a significant contribution.

"Everything is in place for Manchester City to continue to be successful and I am excited to be able to work with such a talented squad, the Executive team and the Board to deliver for fans who are renowned for their steadfast support.”

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “Manuel is a hugely experienced and successful manager with a proven track record.

Echoing these sentiments, Chief Executive Officer Ferran Soriano said: “Manuel is a very experienced coach with a recognised ability to get the most out of his players and build cohesive teams.

...Ferram Soriano, CEO MCFC...

Manuel Pellegrini has more than 25 years of managerial experience during which time he has led clubs in his native Chile, Ecuador and Argentina to six major trophies, including League titles with LDU Quito and Argentinian sides River Plate and San Lorenzo.

His last nine years have been spent in Spain where he has impressed with his management of Villarreal, Real Madrid and most recently Malaga.
