If it goes to form, the Pelickers will claim Pellegrini wanted the ones who played well, but Cheeky picked the ones who struggle, especially any that are English.

Bullshit. It's Marwood when it goes pear-shaped. Always and forever, with the Leather.

Cheers

These are the quotes from him when he scapegoated Marwood:

‘I am not the sporting director, it is his [Marwood’s] job, not my job,’ said Mancini. ‘They ask me about the market but I don’t know anything, it is better they talk to him.’
On his relationship with Marwood, he added: ‘We can do a good job if everyone works in a good way.’

Are there other quotes I've missed?

Loads but I'm not interested in talking about it tbh. .

I only mentioned it as part of a general misconception as to how we operate re transfers, which seems to have all come about during Mancini's term. The untrue idea that he signed some players but had others forced upon him, (which he himself has said isn't true, as has Soriano) & that we suddenly start talking to players in the last days of the transfer window etc, when we have ALWAYS worked months, even years in advance on targets. I was replying to this aspect rather than wanting to get into more Mancini related bollocks.

We talk to players all the time, then give the manager options for the positions he seeks to fill. The idea of managers scouting & watching players themselves in detail whilst trying to win 4 competitions, is absolutely fucking ridiculous. We employ a shitload of people to do that.

I don't think that in current system we give manager much say at all. Mancini clearly still had little say but I doubt Pellegrini has any.

The Mancini lickers are fucking negative and will put a negative slant on anything positive that has been happening lately.

Incredible.

I suppose Slimboy Fat means me here. Don't understand what the negative bit is though. We have Director of Football system and Spaniards are in charge of transfers. Nothing positive or negative about it. People just need to recognize it.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think all this Mancini stuff is going over the top now.

The bloke took our players to the summit of the PL and won us the FA cup which were two brilliant and unforgettable moments in my life and in the history of our club.

BUT

He has now gone. Whether you agree with it or not, that is the fact.
Pellegrini is now in and needs our full support. I happen to think he will do a good job and with the players coming in, it's another exciting time for us.

I have always supported City and some managers i have taken to a lot easier than others, but they come and go. The stagnant thing is the club I support.

Enjoy and remember what Bob did and now give our new guy the full support he should have. It's not his fault he has been brought in to replace Mancini.

I'm sure a new schism shall develop on here soon. We shall all polarise around some selection/tactical nonsense and be at each others' throats anew.

Roll on the nonsense

Of course he'll have some say. Do you really believe players will be forced on him? His input will be taken into account on the transfer strategy meetings that take place.

No the system we have at City, where they have been consulting with the manager about signings.

Nothing negative about right people carrying right responsibilities. I bet you my bottom peseta that IF Navas isn't used in his natural position and sucks you will blame El Gringo rather than guys who actually brought him to club.

Yet another of the many briefings by club insiders to the press on this subject, over the past month, in practically every piece on the subject:

City are adamant that Pellegrini has been brought in to manage the club rather than act as a continental-style head coach – and that the senior team will not be run by committee.

An Etihad insider said: “Manuel will make the final decision on transfer policy – both in terms of players bought and sold by the club.

“It is clear that the days when a manager controlled every single aspect of a football club are at an end and, in that respect, Pellegrini will concentrate his efforts on the first team.

“But he will also have a big influence on what happens at all levels of the club – including things like the Academy and the make-up of the medical staff.

“And, while he certainly will be working hand in glove with the director of football, he has been appointed as a manager rather than a head coach.

“Manuel isn’t a puppet.

“He will have the final say on every single decision that is related to the first team.”

And it's strange how Barry, Lescott, Tevez etc have all been waiting to talk to a bloke who has no say in whether they stay or not.

Where is this from? And what does "final decision" mean? And who is this supposed "club insider"? And why were they signing Navas and co when Pellegrini wasn't appointed?

This is from Simon Mullock at the Mirror, a local Manchester reporter (rumoured to be a City fan) who, although as full of shit as all of them, gets chucked the occasional fish by City. But pretty much every reporter has been told the same though, & tbf, most have printed it, even before Pellegrini's appointment. They have all spelled out the fact that Pellegrini was in consultation with the brass, re signings, clearly briefed by the club.

As for Navas signing months ago, he didn't, he signed about a week ago. Talks were ongoing with Navas for a long time, just as they were with Javi Garcia last summer, (he thought all summer he was coming to City) but we know City were talking to DeRossi & Martinez & would have signed them before Garcia had it been possible. The fact we wer talking to Garcia would have meant nothing if a DeRossi or Martinez deal could have been done.

Likewise, had we been unfortunate enough to win the race for Alexis Sanchez, we would probably not have signed Aguero. No chance did Marwood suddenly spring the Aguero signing from nowhere though, he will have had a team working on him for a year previous.

We wil be occasionally talking to young players now, who may only be offered to the next manager after Pellegrini.

But they will be 'offered' not forced.
