However, having him at your club is a bit like being told you have lung cancer and still smoking 20 a day. Two transfer requests, a mid season golf holiday and community service hanging over him. Let's not forget how desperate he was to return home as he signs for an Italian club.

We got four good years out of him and would have lost him for nothing at the end of the season. Juve have a bargain if he lasts more than a year but you never can tell with Carlos. Once the transfer is signed sealed and delievered I have a cracking story about him I have saving up for when he left the club which shows what type of person he is.

It was time to move on for all concerned. Looking forward to seeing who we have lined up.

Good post. Very much agree with all of that.

People seem to be forgetting that he is already 29 and his production could drop off the cliff any day now. I saw him slowing down little bit last year and his not going to get faster again. Furthermore, look at his body type, so far he has been able to keep himself in shape but he could easily end looking like Maradona at some stage. Once you hit that dreaded 30 with the amount of kicking he has been getting throughout his career and eroding pace I would say there's only couple of good years left in him anyway.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The only idiot is you.

Look at the article above, the deal probably saved us 27 million. And many top clubs would easily take Dzeko off our hands if they had the chance. "the donkey" was also our leading scorer in the league last year

Absolute comedy!

Carlos wage has absolutely no effect on FFP, any signing prior 2010 does not count, while new signings will.

Apart from Napoli where Dzeko to be used in a player-plus- £35m(?) in Cavani's deal! I'm not aware of any top clubs shown interest.

Perhaps you can name two TOP clubs wanted/interested in Dzeko and willing to pay £20m? I bet you can't.

Even pisstake De Laurentiis seems skeptical:
"I could accept a part-exchange deal if the players proposed are attached with a figure that represents the actual value of the player.

"[Edin] Dzeko for example, is no longer what he once was, he was not a starter last season. He did not perform how he did in the Bundesliga [with Wolfsburg]. This is assuming that Dzeko wants to join Napoli, of course."

We'd be lucky to get £15/17m for your golden boy!

I hope this isn't going to be the norm for us - having a top player for three or four years and then he buggers off somewhere else.

Tevez still has several good years in him at the highest level, and is one of the half dozen or so players I would equate as being our best. A proper City player of the present era. Whatever twattery he was guilty of a couple of years ago, his skill and commitment made him vital. I'm looking forward to the day when we bring in great players and keep them (while they are still great players) till we are able to bring in younger and better replacements. This might appear to be good business, but it won't be if we fail to sign a proper replacement.

Yes he does, however he was tying up a lot of wages that we could use more efficiently elsewhere.

And while I don't think you should bank on any player staying longer than his initial contract, a lot of players have now signed extensions. Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Kompany, Zabs are all going to be here for a few more years yet.

I think Cyruff has suggested he and Neymar aren't both needed and messi is at peak value. So I heard anyway.

yea imagine he actually is supposed to have said something like that. Cyruff thinks that Neymar can replace Messi.

Cruyff thinks that Neymar should not have been bought. He is the focal point for a team and a posterboy. Why buy him when you already have Lionel Messi? It would only make sense if you sold Messi. Hence the quote.

I said "a proper City player of the present era", meaning a top quality player the equal of anyone - as opposed to fly by nights and nobodies like Robinho and Sinclair, respectively. No one said he was a "proper Blue", which implies a lifelong City fan, except you. It's not 1970 when local lads and City fans would be in the team week in week out. Hence "present era". But I think you knew full well what I was saying.

Dunno where this rage against Edin comes from. He has a good ratio at City, scoring once at 2, 75 games and let"s not forget how little he played. Ok, we had a thew Knobheads fanboys here, but let"s not forget he scored 2 in the swamp and without his equaliser, we wouldn"t have 13 may now.

Regarding Carlos, huge loss, however, i think the board offered him a new contract and he refused and that explains a lot. I think after the final of the Confederation Cup we will know our new forward.

Cheers Carlos, with all the goods and your bads.

Torres, Soldado, Negredo, just a guess Pelli will be after one of them, may be a cheeky 2 seasons for David Villa, if he is capable. Txiki will be onto this now.

They're talking about someone else. LEST we forget, Messi has been charged with Tax evasion. Furthermore they want to include the years from 2009 to 2012 as well.

It might be wise for him to leave and resolve his issues from abroad rather than in Spain.

One of the best players I've seen at City, or in the Prem for that matter.

Little twat but great player.

Will be difficult to replace for contribution & impossible to replace with a similar player, as there isn't one that I can see.

Whatever wages we could potentially save with Tevez leaving we will more than blow on a transfer fee for a replacement, and probably on new wages too for the replacement.

We are absolutely shite at selling on players for reasonable fees as we have continued to prove with NDJ and now Tevez. The reality is now is we will pay a small fortune for a replacement AND pay big wages. Nothing suggests otherwise in our business.

Good riddance.

And for those who say he won us the league when he came back, perhaps if he'd been around when Aguero was injured and we hadn't had to play with Dzeko and/or Mario, we wouldn't have needed a last minute goal (not that I'd swap that feeling).

Was it December 2010 when he first said he wanted out - just before we played Everton for a chance to be top of the league at Christmas? Then there was the FA cup final, then Munich and his disappearance.

Glad that the stench he and his slime ball advisor left has finally been cleaned from the club.

Figures in the press suggest approximately £10m fee and £15m savings in wages and bonuses. That's £25m for a player who will walk next summer.

If we sign a replacement for £50m and pay them £10m a season on a 5 year deal, that's costing us £20m a season. That's saving £5m a season and they'd have a resale value during that period.

Regardless of his on or off the field positives and negatives, it was good business, providing we bring in a good replacement.
