Tevez still has several good years in him at the highest level, and is one of the half dozen or so players I would equate as being our best. A proper City player of the present era. Whatever twattery he was guilty of a couple of years ago, his skill and commitment made him vital. I'm looking forward to the day when we bring in great players and keep them (while they are still great players) till we are able to bring in younger and better replacements. This might appear to be good business, but it won't be if we fail to sign a proper replacement.

Yes he does, however he was tying up a lot of wages that we could use more efficiently elsewhere.

And while I don't think you should bank on any player staying longer than his initial contract, a lot of players have now signed extensions. Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Kompany, Zabs are all going to be here for a few more years yet.

Whatever wages we could potentially save with Tevez leaving we will more than blow on a transfer fee for a replacement, and probably on new wages too for the replacement.

We are absolutely shite at selling on players for reasonable fees as we have continued to prove with NDJ and now Tevez. The reality is now is we will pay a small fortune for a replacement AND pay big wages. Nothing suggests otherwise in our business.

So if we'd kept him for another year or two, paid his enormous wages & then let him go for nothing, then we wouldn't need to spend any money on a replacement or pay them big wages? You haven't thought this through have you ?

The deal we have just done for Tevez, if true as reported, is remarkably good for a bloke in the last year of his contract, dodgy disciplnary record & well on his way to being 30 years old by the time the season starts. Fantastic deal.

I would have kept him for football reasons, but as a piece of business, it is pretty difficult to imagine anything better.

We only have a finite amount of money to spend, regardless of the morons on here who think we are the 'richest club in the world'.

We have already spent close to £50m on a centre midfielder and a winger. Letting our best striker go, and getting someone in of equal ability will probably cost us a net £35-40m, with wages not too dissimilar to what Tevez is on. I don't see how we can afford that with FFP in mind, especially as we seem to be after an attacking midfielder as well.

I have thought this through clearly. If we keep Tevez for one more year and let him go on a free, at least we are guaranteed to have a top class striker for next season - which we are not with any new purchase - and we can then replace him next season by making a striker our priority purchase, having not already spent £50m on a centre midfielder and a winger.

The long and short of it, I would have kept him. But it looks like he's on his way so I hope the club has a plan in place to live without him.

Former rag who has time and time again brought bad publicity to club and fucked off to play golf during a season. Yeah, a proper fucking Blue.

former rag, former blue you'll be pleased to see. I never forgave him either, but for Munich, not for Salford

Well no need to argue over him and his past now. Clearly he is gone now.

My prediction is that this will lead into another De Jong-Garcia situation.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

What Mickey Mouse owner would ever let a player leave for nothing in a years time when he could save 27 million pounds by letting him go now?

None in the real world mate.

All this dismay has arrived because of three reasons.

1) being priced out of the Cavani deal, which I happen to think was a good choice to pull out, but still pissing annoying.
2) losing Isco to RM
3) selling a quality striker with no immediate response to reassure fans.

This has all happened after the good news of our new boss and the signing of Navas and Fernadihno.

The club probably do want to sell a few more, but I hope they don't leave the signings until the last minute and sign shite.

If you make two teams of 11 with our current squad, our first team frigging amazing, but our 2nd 11 is a mid table team at best.

That will be no good for a long, hard season.

That is the biggest worry mate, no matter what you thought of him as a person he usually delivered on the pitch. We weakened when Garcia came in for De-Jong and it's bloody worrying that the same could happen again.

Dismay? What is up with fans today!

Firstly, not a chance we have been "priced out" of Cavani. We know what he could cost, we are just playing the game, like Chelsea and all the others that are in for him. Cavani now more than ever, is not over.

Secondly, Losing Isco to RM sucks but it hardly is worth pissing in the milk. As I have said before there is so much talent in the world, if you miss one, you look to another. It's just about finding and buying people of the highest quality, of which there are many.

Thirdly, Why does the club need to reassure fans over Tevez? Anyone with half a brain knows why he has gone, he has one year left and he is Tevez! That guy could have royally fucked us and walked out for nothing in a year and joined a prem rival and not bat an eyelid. This way we save his wages and make some money back on the initial transfer and don't have him coming back to haunt us. The club is doing a good deal here, they don't need to justify it.

Finally, we have signed already this summer nearly 50 millions worth of talent, one a world cup winner. We will get more and of the highest quality.

Just because a Tevez goes out and we have bad luck in a fight for a player with RM doesn't validate a fucking meltdown.

If city continues down the path it is going this summer and buys well and most importantly continues to clear the dead wood and revitalise the squad with quality and youth lads (something that needed to be done last year imo) this will have been an excellent summer.

Everyone chill the fuck out and have some patience. Pre season hasn't even started yet FFS!!

It's like one off the lads on here has said the money we save in wages could easily go towards a transfer fee. I remember when George weah walk out on us it saved us £2m in wages and we went and got a young Richard dunne out of it a few day after,
