We've got the best squad now and if any back-up gaps remain come August maybe one or two kids will step up.

We seem hell bent intent on not giving the kids a chance. Even in the last couple of games last season they didn't get on the bench.
That's been a gripe of mine of our last couple of managers.

Tbf to Bob, I don't think they have been ready.

I was expecting Bob to probably stay but be under big pressure to start getting one or two involved this season.

I don't think we would have just let him go without anyone else lined up. I mean if sergio gets injured we can't rely on dzeko every game...

maybe they have thought fuck it and met the clause for caravan.
Still here.

I'm really going to miss the ugly twat. His energy and drive on the pitch always gave you the feeling he could make something happen.I think he will take seria A by storm.

However, having him at your club is a bit like being told you have lung cancer and still smoking 20 a day. Two transfer requests, a mid season golf holiday and community service hanging over him. Let's not forget how desperate he was to return home as he signs for an Italian club.

We got four good years out of him and would have lost him for nothing at the end of the season. Juve have a bargain if he lasts more than a year but you never can tell with Carlos. Once the transfer is signed sealed and delievered I have a cracking story about him I have saving up for when he left the club which shows what type of person he is.

It was time to move on for all concerned. Looking forward to seeing who we have lined up.

That's 5 gaps or new signings required. As stated above we need to embrace a form of rotation so that all 22 are up to the job when called upon.

Correct.

Furthermore, I'm not comfortable at all with the idea of having Milner as Silva's main back up. Don't get me wrong, Milner is fine jack of all trades guy but isn't creative enough to offer anything similar to Silva. That has been one of our weaknesses for past two seasons.

So that's six right there.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Rodwell is the Silva backup not Milner.

Rodders is really great when going forward, Imo he is a Yaya-esk CAM rather than the CDM we all assumed he was.

Gaps remain at 5 :D

seriously hope you are joking. I like Rodders more than most but there's not a creative bone in his body.

Milner can cover a wing position well enough, I think Rodwell will have a big future provided he can stay clear of major injuries, but he is no creative midfielder, that's just daft.

If anyone is a replacement for Silva, it's Nasri.

Yeah but Nasri is inconsistent at best, outright shit at worst. At 26 he is in his prime so we NEED to look elsewhere to provide some real help for Silva.

This is a criticism fans give of every manager at every football club. Check out any football fan forum and you will see "we need to start giving the kids a chance".

Fact is the kids are, usually, just not good enough.

Spot on in this instance. Although they my be better than we have had for some time, you don't gamble introducing kids who you don't think will make the grade either as useful squad players or first team regulars.

That's one criticism of Mancini I don't agree with - the pressure he was under to deliver, I' never even have had a kid on the bench, let alone the pitch

If they aren good enough, sell them on for a profit at 20/21 as you know by then whether they have what it takes

No he wasn't, at all. It was just the usual City fans writing off a new player when he makes a few mistakes tradition. He did ok initially but nothing special & made a couple of errors which contributed to goals. In his latter games he looked special.

He is an alrounder not a creative player but with him & Fernandinho, Yaya can move forward be the backup for Silva & Nasri if neccessary as he is not desperately needed elsewhere as he has been in the past.

I don't know if it's a specifically Manchester city tradition but otherwise I agree with this.

Rodwell has hardly strung a couple of games together in his year at City, yet he's now being touted as being a regular first team player and an automatic first team replacement for Gareth Barry. Until the end of the season he was being catergorised in the same bracket as Sinclair. Do one or two good performances really render some people's memories blank? If all it takes is two games out of twenty or thirty to make someone a good player then Steve McManaman ought to be some kind of City legend.
