I wonder if Ancelotti's contract has anything in it about snapping up PSG players for Real

If we're going after Ibra and his absurd wage demands we're either fire-saling it or throwing FFP out the window

The only thing a Zlatan signing has going for it is a league winners medal.

Curious, do you guys think its either Negredo OR Jovetic? Or both? The club could be working on both deals and then only proceed with one....

I'd prefer Jovetic as he is younger.

Or are both of those going to be pushed aside if we go for Zlatan?

It's a good question Saul. I think we're putting feelers out there, seeing who we can get. We're giving other clubs a chance to get replacements in. Meanwhile, Pellers is getting a chance to assess his squad, see who he likes, see who he wants to work with and more importantly, who he doesn't. Then the execs will show him options and let him choose from there.

yes it is a good question, I've been thinking about it lot this week.

I think 4 'recognised' strikers, lets say - Aguero, Dzeko, Jovetic & Negredo, could bring it's own problems as 1 of these could be very under utilised and another slightly less so. This would undoubtedly become an issue where keeping players happy is concerned and will be a real test of pellers man management skills.

When we had 4 strikers previously - Aguero, Dzeko, Tevez & Ballotelli, it posed problems. Tevez had the Bayern issue, Ballo was often played out on the left and had disciplinary issues on and off the field - after Arsenal away in our title season where he was red carded, his only appearance thereafter was a 5 minute cameo against QPR (quite a significant contribution at that of course).

So I'm thinking it will be either Jovetic or Negredo not both (but could be wrong). My feeling would be that since we have been linked with Jovetic, the sounds from Sevilla and player are that city haven't made a formal bid and he won't go unless the club needs to sell him and that therefore it's Jovetic who is now the front runner (but might be wrong).

So Ibrahimovic now comes into the frame according to some reports in the media - perhaps the sort of name that many think we should be looking at, quality no doubt but far too tempremental for me.

So trying to second guess and apply some logic to what City might be up to is not easy, the only thing for sure is that more signings will come in - sooner than later if Pellers SA press conference is anything to go by. I've not even mentioned Guidetti in all of this - it appears Pellers was a fan whilst at Malaga (refer inside city feature on Pellers first day), but that injury got in the way of a loan deal, something that might be significant in Pellers deciding on where Guidetti's future lies.

But like I say - who knows.......

I would love Ibra, he would be great even if he is old and expensive, he could win us the league I'm not sure I could say that about the alternatives!

Can I just point out that Jovetic isn't really a striker. More like the bloke who plays behind the striker(s). So he could compete for Silva & Nasri's shirt as well as with the strikers.

One of the best young players in Europe before his injury imo. Better at that age than Isco. Not followed him closely since his comeback but he is a class act, potentially world class in our team, IF he can handle the Prem.

City were scouting this lad when he was about 17 ( when he was fantastic).

I don't think the world has seen the best of him yet.

If he came here and won the league that would surely have to make him one of the most successful (league) players ever!!?!

It does quite literally seem that whatever club he is at, they pretty much win the league at the first time of asking!!

I've never liked him as a player but y can't deny that there's something special there

He has raised the profile at PSG and brought the the League for the 1st time he is a short term fix. Is he a Pelli signing ? Take Moura as well, great player over the next few years.

They won it in 1986 and 1994.

Maybe that was before this whole Ibra thing happened...?

I think signing Ibra and Jovetic would be class. Like someone said, Jovetic is more of an attacking midfielder than a striker and could play in the hole or out wider. A midfield triumvirate of Silva, Jovetic, and Navas behind a striker could be great. But therein lies the issue. Will Nasri not cause issues sitting most of the time and settling for a bench role? Will Dzeko be okay getting relegated to third striker if Ibra comes? Similarly, will Aguero be okay playing second fiddle to Ibra? Getting all these big name players is great for position competition and depth but most of them could be playing first team football somewhere else and that can cause issues.

Also, re: Ibra,

City set for Zlatan swoop: The Independent reports that City could move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Ibrahimovic who, according to the Daily Mirror, has taken just two weeks to fall out with new coach Laurent Blanc. The Swede is believed to be unhappy at the imminent arrival in Paris of Edinson Cavani and does not want to play second fiddle to the Uruguayan next season. The Mirror reports that he could be available to City for a cut-price £17 million.

Paper Round's view: City still need to find a replacement for Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, but the equally volatile (and under-appreciated in England) Ibrahimovic is not the answer. Manuel Pellegrini would be better focusing his attentions on Stevan Jovetic or Alvaro Negredo.

I am kinda of the mind that we should focus on one of the three mentioned..two is pushing it and three is surely too many and a waste of money.
