I nominate Robert Hopkins.

I don't think this is the first time you've mentioned him, Ted. How much did we pay?

Helped change the game against Spurs at home last November, and that's about it. He wasn't Laurent Charvet as a player, but financially it was money just pissed up the wall.

And that's just off the top of my head.

He would have come in handy had mancini managed to get traction with his 352, so I suppose you cant blame mancini for signing him with that plan in mind, but whilst its no transfer fee, it is £5m a year in wages and no doubt a hefty payoff to get rid of him.
Wish him the best of luck though, never caused a minutes trouble moaning to the press though he hardly played when fit.

IF i had worked, people would have hailed Mancini as a genius for bringing him in at $3m. I think Mancini liked those kinds of risks, succeed big or fail big ... no pussy footing about. I quite liked that about him, actually.
In the end, and as many people probably knew before he even arrived, Maicon is not the professional that Vieira is, and it didn't help that he got injured when he did and that the 352 never took hold.
No ill will towards the player ... but it's good that he's moving on.

That's a good summary.
His only performance of note was the Spurs home game, where he did change the game when he came on. Unfortunately, he just doesn't have enough in the tank to play regular Premier League football, or even as a frequent sub.
Good luck to him with whatever he does next. At least it's another player on a big salary off the wage bill. It would be a bonus if we could get any sort of fee for him too!
