This is very true, although 28 million is a lot to pay for a square peg.
Happy birthday by the way.
Cheshire Today(holy doctrine of journalism) has quoted £25M, I know it's barely a point, but if the rest of the press is going to over report figures we've paid, we shouldn't be doing the work for them.

Throw Silva, Yaya, Aguero, Dzeko, Nasri and hopefully Jovetic into the mix and there's plenty to look forward to.
I'm not saying it's not exciting. It is, and to be honest I'd prefer a star to be made at City rather than bought in. But those two are not nearly the most exciting Spanish names out there. Just being real.
I could put on the blue tints and declare that Navas and Negredo are world class and will win us the league but i'm just not sure.
How many of those "most exciting Spanish names" are realistically attainable right now? And for wages that tie in with our FFP compliance moves?

There are no 'Spanish names' currently ahead of Negredo as a stiker.

Same goes for Navas in the out and out winger category too so, throwing in Silva who isn't too bad either, we're doing well with the who Spanish thing I think.

Daily Fail:
Alvaro Negredo will complete his £24.5million move to Manchester City on Wednesday afternoon, says Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido.
It looked as though the Spain striker's move to England was about to collapse earlier in the week as City had not reached Sevilla's valuation but the clubs have now come to an agreement.
City will pay an initial £21.5m for the 27-year-old, who scored 31 times in 42 club appearances last season, but this could rise by £3m following add-ons.
'We are about to complete the sale of Negredo to Manchester City. If all goes well, he will say goodbye this afternoon at the Sanchez Pizjuan,' Del Nido said.
'City are signing a great player. It is the contract of his life.'
He is expected to join the City squad on their pre-season tour of South Africa at the earliest possible opportunity.
Negredo, who was part of Spain's victorious Euro 2012 squad, is the second player City have signed from Sevilla this summer following the £15m purchase of winger Jesus Navas.
Negredo will replace Juventus-bound Carlos Tevez in City's strikeforce and could be soon joined by Stevan Jovetic, with negotiations over a £28m switch from Fiorentina ongoing.

I really really really hope this will not be a flop.
I am more gutted like i was when we brought Mario, i hope Negredo will prove me wrong. There is no way we should pay that much for him.
We really really need to bring Jovetic. We really must not miss this one, after all the transfers we missed lately.

Don't forget they have a new striker in Lukaku (who I think will have a very good season)

Seems like he's done then, he'll cruise in this league after playing some seriously tough la liga opposition... like this guy.
