As much as like signings we really need to sell before we buy again now. Feel the midfield is a bit top heavy.

For me we need to shift;

Sinclair
Razak
Barry
Lescott (If we sign a new CB or convert Javi Garcia to CB)
Nasri (Only if the offer is right and we bring in Salvio, otherwise keep)
Rodwell (Possibly loan him out)

If we do something with the above, Salvio could fit.

Agree about Salvio, nothing special.

Ludicrous suggestion regarding Rodwell tho. Bonkers.

Rodders could be Ball playing Central defender. Like Vinny converted MF

Ahh that's very true. Forgot he was so versatile.

Our squad is shit hot though isn't it.... our best squad ever even.

Rodders could also be the new Yaya, he has an eye for goal and loves to burst through defenses.

I think Pellers needs central midfielders who are all round box-to-box midfielders, so Yaya, Rodders, Milner and Fernandinho will be his quartet. I think that's why we're seeing Garcia in defense and why Barry's lack of pace may see him warming the bench more than starting.

Nasri is one i'm struggling to see fit atm.

Thing is he is the one player, when Pelle signed, I thought he would get the best out of....

Me too, JoJo coming in I think has limited him even further, being their preferred position is the same and their second position wide left is the same as well.

I would like to think there is a plan involving him, but if we sell Nasri I think it opens up a way in for a couple of young players I had hoped would be given opportunities to play a part in the 1st team, the obvious choice being Suarez.

I hope we don't sign anymore players from the Portuguese league. Most of the players that play in it are over-rated.

Not sure what to make of our three/almost four signings so far. Maybe they will all do a stellar job, but the players seem more bargain bin than premium brands if I'm honest. Isn't the plan for us to rule Europe someday soon?

This is a post from a poster called Fogblue from another forum. I think it might put your mind at ease:

There’s an awful lot of ignoring the forest for the trees on here.

I prefer to think of our transfers rather more simply.

Last year, I believe our biggest failing was our one-dimensional attack – the “one more pass” approach, as some have called it. Dink the ball around the box until someone made a magical cut and we’d score. Sometimes.

Problem was, even mediocre sides packed the box against us, and frustrated this approach.

What about now? Sure, we can still play the way we did with Silva and Aguero, but with more width and pace in Navas, now we can cross the ball in, with target guys to score. With Fernandinho holding, it seems to me Yaya can move forward and bull rush down the middle more often. In addition, Negredo gives us a better ability to lump it over the top of defense as well. And I have to believe our long set pieces (including corners) will improve with Negredo, and Rodwell too, assuming he’s fit and plays periodically.

Seems to me we’ve added substantial flexibility in attack with these signings. Ergo, we’ve – at least on paper – solved our biggest problem.

Not only that, but the PL’s best defense has lost no one of consequence either.

I’m just confused as to how an objective City fan can’t be excited about who we’ve signed and – more important – WHY we’ve signed them.

provided we tie up the deal for Jovetic I hope our transfer business ends there...unless we ship out of a few.
with these 4 new signings we have a great squad and good depth.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Honestly i'd rather have a "bargain bin" player than a "premium brand" if the bargain bin did the job we wanted at half the cost.

If anything the fact we are signing the type of players we are, only goes to evidence we have a scouting system capable of thinking outside the box.

Just because a player is a perceived world class player, doesn't mean he will be a world class signing. Fee, Wages, Image rights and a million other things need factoring in.

Ultimately though, you have to ask the question, is it worth paying double or more for someone who potentially will give a couple of goals/assists more than the lesser known target just because he is a well known and liked player. For some teams, who need to make a statement, it might be, for us, who have 4+ world stars and have well and truly announced ourselves as a major force... it's not really.

I for one, am delighted with our business so far. This squad can take on the champions league better than ever before. Squad being the key word.

We are stronger than ever.

I have not seen any of our signings play a single game for their previous clubs so it is hard to get excited about something you don't know anything about. And like most of us, I have heard ducks fart before where City are concerned. Until I see them for myself though, I am not going to get carried away.

I'm glad you said it first. Same here. As I don't get to see much Spanish football, I've been wandering around with question marks floating above my head for the past month, like in one of those smileys. I'd never heard of any of these players before we became interested in them. Jovetic with 35 goals in fours years was what actually spurred me to make my original post. And, yeah, I'm sure he is about more than scoring goals. Anyway, I was just putting it out there. No point in damning these guys before they've kicked a ball.

BTW, I don't think it was our lack of talent and options that dictated our ridiculous insistence on tippy-tappying around the 18 yard box last season. That was Mancini's doing, and one of several reasons why he was sacked.

Our new signings may not be the stellar ones that all were looking for but what they are is the best that their club had to offer. Just because they don't play for Real/Barca et al does not mean they aren't good players, it means that they just weren't given the chance.

From what I've read, the new additions have been highly praised for their roles within their own clubs, given great respect by all that have seen them play. Going back to say goodbye to the fans is alien to us and we'd probably have their heads planted on the turnstiles rather than give them a good send off, and this shows that we're trying to build a group who will play together and not cause any problems. Is this the holistic way, it could be, but at the very least it brings a calm to the group and allows for a far better atmosphere.

I'm soooo misunderstood. But no need to mate, I'll be a Pellegrini 'Licker' soon if all goes to plan ;-)

Never been a player/manager/staff 'Licker' (although I will debate and support them), City, and only City as a whole, come first.

Not a transfer but sad news,

Tito Villanova is set to step down as manager of Barcelona at a press conference tonight. He is said to have had a relapse of his cancer.

If true, i wish him a sucessful and speedy recovery.
