I'm with you in believing they HAD been on something - not sure I'm with you on the timescale though. I think they (and RM) stopped when they got scared by Fuentes. It is interesting to note that Messi was basically Mr Roboplayer up until last season though.

Sandro Rosell and Andoni Zubizarreta have called an emergency press conference at 8:30 this evening, when they will announce that Tito Vilanova has resigned as Barcelona coach following a recurrence of his cancer. Sad that for a gent of the game.

Hope he makes a full recovery. Awful at his tender age.

I wonder who they'll go for.

And no this isn't a thread about horny monkey fuckers.

cheers

EDIT: i think the cycling investigations had probably thrown a spanner in the works, etc so i've corrected my verbage. The good news for us is that the Spafia will know what doctors to employ to get a step ahead if scientific advancements provide a new opportunity to dive back into the goods.

cheers again

Not sure if you were kidding here but there seemed to be a huge drop in workrate last season, when Barca lost the ball and the same has just happened with Spain.

I used to watch Xavi & Iniesta & wonder what the fuss was about, sure they were beautiful to watch but I just envisaged a K***e or Gerrard destroying them whenever they lost the ball. Suddenly all of them are swarming like angry bees whenever the ball goes loose & winning it back in seconds.

I don't see the Spain U21s having that energy. Thiago was left floundering on several occasions & Isco does fuck all.

So it will be interesting to see if Barca get it back next season. If not it was either Pep or drugs.

Bayern & Dortmund have become mysteriously athletic in recent times, now Pep.arrives in Germany.

At City, it's interesting to note players saying they have never done this kind of training before. So presumably they are not considered to be fit enough for this game.

Be interesting to see if we can do it or if Vierira will have to introduce the next generations to el doctor.

Funnily enough, watching the CL in the last couple of seasons, I couldn't help noticing how the opposition were always able to go at full-pelt for the whole game. It struck me as odd, to be honest. It's only recently that I've become a little suspicious about how they were able to do this.

Without implying anything whatsoever it's interesting how certain players over here have had drastic changes in fitness levels during their careers.

Paul Ince at Utd; Superman. Paul Ince at Liverpool; Gary Megson.

Stephen Ireland; Ian Bishop on the wing, Colin Bell, collapse, hospital, Gary Megson.

No one would ever imply anything other than a superb training schedule got something extra out of these players, but it is interesting how much extra can actually be gained by various means.

I've given no thought to the drug idea(doesn't mean its wrong) My take on the Barca decline was
1, Messi
2-19, ditto
20, a swarm of dragonflies will usually beat a swarm of bees (once they learn to swarm)

Said last season this side need to learn to press to progress. That asks questions of Aguero, Dzeko, Ya Ya and to a lesser extent Silva. I agree it needs to be organised, other wise its a group of school kids chasing a ball. But if you were reasonably astute, and our Barca boys are, you would look at mancini's team and say, width, pace and pressure. Which is what we're doing. Can we do it? Well we have the competition for places so those that don't do it wont see much game time.By the way, whoever did the game clips for this site wants a knighthood, fucking excellent.
