Since the 80's, but not closely.
Got really into it during the Pearce era.

Ha ha! No, it was more about accessibility. Around then sports bar started popping up, which meant that I could watch more games on the telly. And I also got internet at home, which meant that i could start reading stuff about the club on the net (mainly MEN and the OS before I found this place) and eventually watch streams.

I was gonna say, it wasn't the best era to pick up City fans. In fact, it drove many of them away.

Must've been a 'Beanie' thing ;-)

Dad took me to an fa cup game at Maine road in 1996, when I was 6. I believe against Middlesbrough, we lost 1-0 juninho scored for them, but I remember clear as day saying to the old man, Dad i want to support city! And the rest is history

6 years old, a playground in Handforth. Someone does a scramble for Panini stickers and I get Ron Atkinson. That weekend I go and visit my Grandad. Grandad, I'm a United fan! No you're bloody not!!! And he sat me down and told me about how the whole family is blue all the way back to Gorton.

Never been to the theatre of screams, and I tend to come over all Burt like at just the thought. Have always happily maintained I wouldn't go there even if it was a freebie to watch City.

Oi! What do ya mean "all Burt like"?!!!

My Bro is 7 years older than me and we had to share a bedroom in our little two-up two-down townhouse. Our kid had incredible, massive pastel drawn posters over his bed of City players and I was hooked as soon as he took me to watch from the Kippax. No idea what my first game was but it was in the 60's with King Colin pulling all the strings on the pitch. Happy, happy days:o)

So the Alexander days to answer the question.

I would bet anything that no fucler on ere started goin earlier than that ol fucler John68 though......................

Final days of the Swales era, I reckon. Horton was in charge. First game was early in 96/97 season, though.

Glory hunter from the late sixties (it took alot of hunting soon after that) originally having come from Slough!
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

Given a blue and white scarf by my uncle in the mid 1970's (never thanked him properly) vindicated with all the supporters of other teams on our street when we won the league cup in 76, then suffered afterwards
first home game in 79
first away game in 80

pleasantly surprised to see am in the majority block in the poll results....

I'm not. I think very few posters on here are post-takeover fans. Maybe 1 or 2 of the Americans, plus the Dzeko crowd (Cit.Revenge aside - he's at least Thaksin) and a few others. Mancio self-claims his heritage to the 60s, I think. I'm surprised there aren't more in the Wardle group, as that's when our international exposure increased dramatically, what with re-promotion to the Premiership and the increased availability of games abroad...

Been a blue from birth.

This was against my dads wishes as he had a season ticket for the rags for 20 years and being his first son, he wanted it to continue.

Unfortunately for him, I grew up with my cousins, due to him working long hours and they were all blues.

My first game was 1987 against Millwall in the old 2nd division. I still have the inflatable banana from the game.

Voted for the Swales era because I was a fan before the Lee took over.
