I'm not. I think very few posters on here are post-takeover fans. Maybe 1 or 2 of the Americans, plus the Dzeko crowd (Cit.Revenge aside - he's at least Thaksin) and a few others. Mancio self-claims his heritage to the 60s, I think. I'm surprised there aren't more in the Wardle group, as that's when our international exposure increased dramatically, what with re-promotion to the Premiership and the increased availability of games abroad...

i'm full on Wardle. 2005....caught the footy bug after the 2002 WC and decided to actually support a team a few years later. Picking City seemed like misery incarnate during that final Pearce year and my wife used to ask me interesting things such as "why did you pick this team? they totally suck."

However, in hindsight we all know that I am the lucky talisman that made it all go spiraling into the stratosphere though, so you can all send me thank you notes.

cheers

Yeah but we were shite!

But I think quite a lot of our foreign support (particularly those who post on here) are the 'underdog-supporting' type. Also (as a few have already stated) we've picked up supporters due to being the antithesis of the Rags. Re-promotion to the Prem will have helped with that.

2006 but more intensly from the summer of 2007, so I went Thakshin on the vote.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Swales era for me.

Went to my first game with my Dad when I was 5 - Derby at home in the 1989/90 season which we lost (of course!). Started going regularly from the 1990/91 season onwards.

Actually, just re-read it. First time, I assumed you meant 'the derby', not 'Derby County'!

I started following vaguely in 09 and after the 2010 World Cup, which I followed closely gave me soccer fever, i saw a city vs united game and instantly hated the rag cunts and found my team in city.

around 2007 for me. i'm most likely one of the youngest posters here, so I don't feel too bad about being a fan for only 6 years.

Swales era. I was around 6 or 7, prob 1977/78. I clearly remember losing to Shrewsbury and Halifax in the cup which were a year or so after.

2008 because City were on ESPN. I knew nothing about the Sheikh or anything else for that matter. I just saw Tevez with his long hair banging in goals one day and started following.

I really got into the sport during the 2008 Euro Cup when I was in Europe and the people were rabid. Came back to the states and found any match I could on television and that was ESPN and I remember only seeing Liverpool and City games. I chose City.

I stopped supporting Liverpool in 1989 when my family took me to Maine Road as an 11 year old one week after the 5-1. I was hooked. Not really sure why as City were shite and Liverpool had Ian Rush and Bruce Grobbelaar who I loved. My Dad look liked Rush so that's why I liked him and Bruce did that funny thing with his legs. I made the right choice though.

Since 1968 , closest options were 1964 and 1971 , so as I was only 4 in 1964 I put 1971

First-time poster. Born and bred in Manchester and first attended Maine Road in 1981 aged 8 to watch City v Northampton in league cup with dad and brother. Vivid memory of tatty wooden benches in old Platt Lane Stand, but have loved City ever since.

Best memories: 5-1 at Maine Road and 1-6 at the swamp. You cannot walk far in NI without seeing a glory-hunting rag, so victories against them are particularly sweet, and humiliations are sublime.

Worst memory: travelling up to Manchester from university for the FA cup match against Spurs (must have been 1993 or 94). Walked to ground full of optimism with dad, and walked home gutted after we got beaten, the pitch was invaded and police horses were called into action, all live on BBC.

Love reading all the posts on this site, keeps me sane. Keep up the good work.

Since 1976 when I was born due to my mum. First game early eighties Keegan played against us? Been hooked ever since had season ticket most of time also had a spell of getting in on fake tickets at Maine road(stood back of north stand) most memorable games weirdly enough are the rained of Ipswich game and beating Leicester in the cup (kernaghan screamer) and before anyone asks yes I was at 10-1(I was on tv) 5-1 and apt game
