What's Happening With The Rags?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Hell, they're even saying that Alcanatara maybe regretting turning down United even though we are now aware there wasn't even an approach!

However, this little snippet said it all for me. Moyes bringing to light the problem of big players in the market (value for money) and how they now need to rely on their 'History' to pull players in. Very telling.

“That is not something Manchester United are frightened of,” said Moyes.

“There has been a change in the dynamic because of PSG coming on the scene recently. That has altered things. But Manchester United will always compete.”

“One thing the club has got is the history. It has got the name. It has got the success. Players do want to be connected to that and one day say they have played for Manchester United. That is a big pull for any player.”

Second time in 2 years that they've said all they've got to do is 'compete'. Seems like the new mantra surrounding the Swamp.

Sounds like Arsenal to me.

Does anyone actually think the scum will struggle this year any more so than they did previous years?

I can see the same shithouse clubs playing them and getting shafted time after time

I know what you mean mate but I'm just wondering now without that nasty evil fucker as manager will other teams give them as much respect?

Do you think Mourinho would be playing these games with Rooney if Dr Evil was still in charge?

Very different pressures and no experience for the manager at the top level and CL also. Taggar being manager gave them a massive boost, now he is not there, Moyes has to start like a steam train to keep the crowd on his side. Will be very interesting especially as they dont have an easy start to the season (first 6 games)

If the rest of the footballing world has got the same attitude as you, they are champions already.

Well no matter how much of a cunt he is, Rooney has arguably contributed most for the rags over the guts of the last ten years.

Losing your star player and long term worshipped manager in one go has to have a huge impact.

I'm looking forward to this season like no other.

I learnt many years ago not to get too giddy when there are problems at the swamp as invariably it just comes back and bites me on the arse. This season I will just concentrate on us and not bother what they get up to (or don't get up to morelike)

Bit dramatic mate.. I have followed City and football in general, long enough to know that writing them off usually makes one look like a tit. How long have people been saying tick tock etc. My opinion this year hasnt changed from any other year so I dont think it will have anything to do with them being champions come May.

And this was my point exactly. I was simply pointing out that a thread asking "What's Happening With The Rags?" is possibly suggesting there are big problems a little prematurely.

Sorry to disagree Bob...but HONESTLY...can you think of anything on this God's Earth that would ever want to bite Chinner's arse?

It is funny. I've always been able to read the buzz around the scum by my friends who are fans.
And whenever there is a lot of activity or media hype, they just give it too me. None of that this summer.
One actually told me, "if we don't win it this year I won't be put out." Hunh? Seems like the hiring
of Moyes and the lack of transfers has them backpedaling a bit. Another told me he would be happy with
one trophy. Hmm. Are we entering a different era of the Rags history.

A rag said to me last week that he was preparing for 5 years of City and Chelsea vying for the league like the rags and arsenal used to do. I replied: 'Only five years?'

With all respect to Chinners, the obvious difference between this year and other calls that the rags are declining is the lack of a purple-nose drunkard. First time in the past 2 decades. Changes are afloat and they aren't positive for the rags.

I'm predicting a turbulent season followed by a long, slow decline over the next 10 years (with the occasional record breaking transfer or Carline/FA Cup win). There will be public pressures from the stock market, but those pressures aren't helpful to building a successful football club.
