Greater Manchester isn't a County either and never has been, it's just an administrative area. The correct County for Manchester would be Lancashire as the historic boundaries have never changed. The change in 1974 was purely an administrative change. Sorry but I just got my anorak head on, it's a bit of a hobby horse for me.

I think you'll find that Greater Manchester is now a county in it's own right mate.
