Well and truly Swales.

The internets great for finding things like that,

This poll will no doubt show the sites demographic. Most of us are the right age to know how to find football forums, post aggressively on match day threads instead of shouting at the wife and don't have enough City friends who are as passionate about the club as we are lol.

Back to the 50's for me but I started just after John 68 :) I had an auntie who lived on Parkside Road so got dumped there when the 1st team were at home as I was just a nipper.Used to listen to the roars from the game from the house or even Alexandra Park if I went feeding the ducks. The family had main stand season tickets.

First games would have been reserve team games which were great and had the excitement of watching the old scoreboard put up the latest score form the 1st team away game every 10 minutes. It wasn't possible to get instant updates on the radio I don't think or maybe we just couldn't afford a radio.

Can't remember specifically what the first game would have been but it was Bill Leivers,Cliff Sear,Bert Trautman,Joe Hayes time.2 old old memories I have are:Leivers taking a free kick from the center circle and shooting, clever lad was Bill.Joe Hayes hitting the bar with a volley from 30 yards at Gigg Lane.

Strange going back to those days as one guy who went with my parents to watch City was also a scum season ticket holder.I think that might have been quite common in those days but never ever a consideration in our house even though I was born in scumland Stretford.

Somebody mentioned David Shawcross earlier in this thread.I seem to remember he played for Stockport boys against my brother when he played for Stretford Boys.

I got to thinking about that the other day. If John68 is named after the last time he saw us win the league, shouldn't the majority of us rename ourselves "xxxx12".

This thread got me thinking about City in my life, and I guess I can say that I have always supported them, although this got much stronger when I moved abroad (probably a link to home). The weird thing is I can always remember my mum saying “I can’t stand that lot “whenever the rags were mentioned in our house, and she wasn’t a big football fan. She definitely hated them though. Now you have to remember that I am at least 200 years old! My dad took to me to my first game when I was about seven years old. It was a mid-week night game against Crystal Palace (I think), and we were in the old Kippax Stand. I also remember him taking me to see City at Leeds when I was at school. I grew up overlooking Maine Road, and I can clearly remember sneaking into the ground with my friends on a Saturday afternoon when they opened the gates in the second half. This was the days of proper turnstiles, which opened onto the ‘croft’. This is the only picture I can find, which I think I took in 1987 

I live in Plymouth & I do see a lot more City shirts the last 4 years, it's made spotting a City shirt less exciting, it used to be the highlight of my week & I was always sure it was just me & my Dad down here lol

I like to think the greater amount of blue shirts is mainly due to the fact the clubs success has woken a few stranded fans up, made them more willing to pay for a shirt and proud to wear it, and the fact it's in all the sports shops down here now, when I was younger it could only ever come direct from the club.

There are a lot more kids 'choosing' city now here too, which is a direct result of success, so maybe they'll be on this forum admitting that's what turned them blue when they're of a more 'forum like' age?

Since 1968. I was 9. My brother, who is a rag, took me to a game. Up 'till then I'd been, not a rag supporter, more of a fan - just 'cos my brother supported them.
At this game they played a team called Manchester City and this team of upstarts in blue had the damned temerity to win 3-1!
I thought they had to be pretty good to beat utd, so asked my brother to take me to see City at their ground. You can imagine his reply...
My old man worked on the railways so could get us round the country fairly cheap, took me to Maine Road and that was it - you all know that feeling.... that you have come home, and it just feels"right" and when the boys come onto the pitch and it's blue everywhere as far as you can see and and....
Have been blue ever since. Always will be.
I wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days....before you've actually left them...
