A lot of people have made a lot of good points in this thread, age comparisons, critical analysis of his performances, potential versus reality, comparisons to other players in his position and how it could be improved.

Love both of them but I think the shit lescott gets is unfair and all down to the fact he simply looks (regardless of the fact that he's quality) awkward on the ball. It's that simple.

I watched him for England after he joined us, he was bringing the ball down and playing short passes and moving for the return only for the midfield to ignore him. When they inevitably lost the ball it made him look like he was out of position when in actual fact the guy on the ball made a shit choice.

He far better than most give him credit for.

He is prone to lapses in concentration though, don't forget the cock up he had then left for dead when QPR scored against us on our title winning season, he almost handed them the win and the rags the title.

No one suggested he wasn't. The thing is Lescott gets regular abuse for it where as other players seem to get away with high profile fuck ups. As I said I love them both so not fussed either way but it seems like people are sitting at thier keyboards waiting for him to make a mistake.

In a similar vein and slightly off topic Dzeko gets the same treatment, called a donkey and shit for missing a sitter when Aguero spent the whole of last season fucking up chance after chance yet seems to come out smelling of roses.

TwoBob proving the point. It's always been the same that some players are instantly disliked by some and others can do no wrong even though they do plenty wrong. The dislike of Lescott by some is scary and he only has to be on the field and it's his fault.That despite the fact that he has been part of the best defence in the league for 2 seasons and there have been spells where he has been a rock and Vinnie the liability.

Best to just ignore ridiculous criticisms and at the same time don't fall into the trap of over praising a player before they have actually become worthy of such high praise.
