The owner of Anzhi, Suleyman Kerimov, stopped the finances. Dunno why, dunno how, but he will reduce the wage bill from now on and he put in charge Gadzhiyev, a new manager that demanded a low wage.

Anzhi reached an agreement with Dinamo for Igor Denisov, Iuri Jirkov and Aleksandr Kokorin, three of their best, so it looks like they are going to sell the best ones. The rumours are he is almost bankrupt, however, i don”t know about Willian to us.

They linked City with him because is the natural thing to do, the original article linked us, Monaco and PSG, the only teams who would pay for him that much.

At the moment we are linked with Pepe, Suarez and him. The total amount is about 110 mil.

Bollox imho.

I thought their owner was worth billions?

Suarez link is just bollox, pepe would have happened already arrived given our dealings of players we actually wanted rather than being linked to.

Willian, if he really is on 150k a week, will not come to us unless he is prepared to make under half of that. I cannot see many players now earning much more than 90k a week UNLESS they are truly and totally world class, or in an existing contract.

Let's see if Willian really wants to live his dream in playing in the premiership like he has commented? If we get him for 25-30M (or even less given this supposed 'fire sale') and he has a basic of say 40-50k per week, then performance bonuses.. Then why not go for him, but we don't need him, he is a nice to have IMO (having thought about it from my initial post).

I had heard that he has a terminal illness, so has no further need for the political clout that a football club gave him.

Appalling state of affairs that clubs would be used for political gain then just discarded like that, fortunately we all seem a little safer in this country with the FA seeking assurances from the wealthy backers of continuity plans, trusts etc to allow the clubs to transition should the owners plans change suddenly

Get rid, use Zabba & Lescott as left back cover & sign Willian. Then rotate the whole attacking unit, plus Pozo & Lopez & the whole centre/ defensive midfield & the centre backs, possibly including Boyata.

If the standard of improvement from Dzeko, Nasri, Boyata is genuine & maintained, then we could genuinely have two teams of almost equal standing & rotate ALL the players regularly, rather than knackering out 6 or 7 of them by playing them all the time.

Zabba is more than adequate on the left. Just like Clichy he is a right-footed player who is not bothered on the left side. As for Lescott, he would be fine cover in league cup matches or against very very slow wingers, but he cannot pace most outside players.

I have heard a few people on here say that Clichy is right footed and have watched him every game and I am absolutely convinced that he is left footed. He hardly ever uses his right, especially when he is in the perfect position to do so. I am so convinced that I would actually put money on it!

Any lads got firm evidence?

Lol @ all these specialists on Ukrainian football.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I thought this was hilarious.

Had Clichy pulled on the Three Lions, it would have been the second conversion of his life. When Clichy was a boy, his father could see he was a talented player but he wanted to give his son an edge and demanded he start playing with his left foot.

So determined was Clichy snr to effect the change that when refereeing a game in which his son was playing he ruled out a goal because Gael had scored with his right.

I just can't see this being true:

Manchester City are interested in signing Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Willian, the Daily Star understands.

The Premier League runners up have seen a bid of £34m for the 25 year old rejected by the Russian club according to ESPN Brasil, though they are considering an improved offer.

The reports come twenty-four hours after it was announced that Anzhi are looking to move on a number of their big name players as they look to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play rules.

Samuel Eto’o, Jucilei, Ewerton and Joao Carlos are some of the other members of Gadzhi Gadzhiev’s squad thought to be available this summer.

Brazil international Willian, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, has made just seventeen appearances for Anzhi since signing from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

That's it! It's in Cheshire Today:

http://www.cheshire-today.co.uk/19653/m ... r-willian/

Manchester City are set to increase their offer for Anzhi

Makhachkala playmaker Willian, according to reports coming out of Brazil.

The highly-rated 24-year-old joined the Anzhi in January from Shakhtar Donetsk, but Anzhi have hit financial problems and need to trim their highest earners.

The Brazilian has been linked with both Tottenham and Chelsea in the past, and was close to a move to White Hart Lane last summer. He is a friend of Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas who previously tried to take him to Porto.

However, reports suggest that City, having already spent over £90 million in the transfer window, are now in the driving seat.

ESPN Brazil say the club are preparing to lodge a second offer for the player having already had a bid in the region of £35 million turned down.

The source of their information is not given.

If we do get him I don't get how we are going to fit all these world class players in, severe rotation and hope they all stay happy? Completely different front six, have two fort sizes who alternate game at a time? I dunno.

Seeing as we look woefully short on left sided attack, i could believe this to some infinitesimal degree. If we sell Barry, Kolarov, and Sinclair, as have been rumored recently, that could help raise some funds. But not if he wants his absurd wages to stay the same

Brazilian press, IE Willian's agent.

How the transfer BS rumour mill works

Agent links player to City spreading false rumour of bid;
Creates supposed market for player who Agent has been told by his club to find a buyer for;
Agent hopes to drive up price, whispers "fee/bid of £30m" to tabloid hacks & Brazilian media;
Parent club also happy with this as driving up fee also in their interests, please proceed;
Tabloids pick up BS rumour and run story of MCFC bid which means fee goes up a gazillion quid;
City, who never were interested, come and out and confirm so;
Tabloid runs story next day of City "bid rejected" or "withdrawal from the race" - a race we never entered anyway;
City "snubbed by Willian" angle taken by Mirror/Sun etc;
Chinners snub count tallies one more to the score.
