And why when I tried to register did I get the message 'member's area down' after submitting? It's not down, you let me enter the details on page 1! If it's down, don't let me do all that and then tell me.

Like you say, they have pretty much all my details somewhere on their system anyway. This all seems a bit odd.

Stadium announcement is a good shout. Perhaps it's a blanket registration and they will start to pre sell more season tickets to those only registered on the new system.....

Regardless, the general tone of the forum at the moment wouldn't consider this to be big....... It's players or nothing.

I reckon it's about the stadium announcement, hence the 'big'. There was the artist's impression and around the time of Mancinigate and they said that consultations were to begin with local residents. This could be the formal plans and announcement.

I seriously doubt it. The way the club has gone, they've become too trigger-happy with the word 'Big'. It'll be some membership exclusive designed to cost more, but glossed over with 'brand effectiveness' buzzwords.

The really 'big' news will be announced at press conferences with the world's media present. I mean, why care about lifelong fans when you have a global vision?

It can be announced on the site first, as can the next signing, which would be 'big' news & possibly happen in July. It's not neccessarily got anything to do with any 'global' stuff. That could be what it is, but nobody knows that at all.

There is a trend these days of fans slagging the club & those who work behind the scenes, even when they haven't done anything wrong.

That is the biggest change imo.

Do you really believe the club would announce massive news to fans before they announce it to a press conference when chances are a significant number of journalists will be signed up to such a 'scheme'? No. Because those who attend a press conference will get their news out 20-40 minutes later than the hacks that have signed up to such a service (assuming the news were released simultaneously), thus negating the reason for their attendance at said press conference.

Ticket price 'readjustment' and other non-headline-making news will be the only thing that fans hear first from the club from now on, and this has been the case for the past 2 seasons already.

Well yes because they haven't had a press conference for Fernandinho or Navas or Pellegrini yet, so that's exactly how they have been operating.

I didn't know news was released on the OS first for any of them - thought it was picked up by journalists, press conference or not.

I sincerely doubt fans will get a newsworthy 'exclusive scoop' emailed to them by the club. It simply makes zero business or psychological sense. Fans that haven't signed up will be miffed it's kept off the OS to keep up the air of exclusivity, journalists will be less keen to report the story, as it's already been disseminated by the club in a carefully-wrapped presentation package (unless, of course, they want to twist the story in a negative light), and those that don't check their emails regularly will be left as much in the dark as those that didn't sign up in the first place.

Also, due to the phrasing of the announcement-about-an-announcement, it would appear that it's something pre-planned, so I'm pretty sure it won't be a signing.

because no one plans a signing and unveiling.

I have no clue what it is. And dont care to speculate.

Wasn't there a comedy film once called 'Something Big' where everybody in America started running about as something big was expected to happen, but never did?

They probably meant "announcements" which would refer to anything newsworthy in the month of July.
The point was to sign up. Nothing earth-shattering.
