It Was Ten Years Ago Today

That the stadium hosted it's first ever game when Barcelona came to town.

How time flies eh!

It was a great day, but tbh my biggest memory was Ronaldinho casually bisecting our centre backs with perfectly weighted passes to runners from 50 yards away as good as ones Silva does from 10. What a player. Glad I've seen him in the flesh.

Can't beat a bit of Cheesy.

10 years though, and to be fair, it's not been that bad. I know we go on about the good old days of Maine Road but in my lifetime there was no really good years on the pitch but since we've moved it's all gone fairly swimmingly, in respect. The last 5 years have been a blast.

It was Ali B's last game as well, also if I remember correctly the Goat was brought out before the game too?

Can't remember mate, just remember Ronaldinho plus how fat & shit that Dutch bloke up front was, but still he kept running in behind Dunney because he knew Ronaldinho was going to thread the ball through a ten yard gap between our centre backs, without looking, from the halfway line.

Incredible.

I was just thinking I couldn't remember anything about the game. And then you mentioned that and I remember Ali B running around like a 19 year old for about 30 minutes

As evidence to the contrary, I offer you that season Beanie was in charge when we didn't score at home after xmas. I actually didn't renew after that - I could live with the relegations, as there was always the hope and passion and potential promotion the following season, but that was so bleak, I just couldn't be bothered.

Glad I had a change of heart in the August and begged them to take me back

Were we relegated? The Pearce era was always going to be a come down after KK, we just didn't realise how much.

I would have preferred relegation with some fight than that. It just completely sucked any love of the game from me.

I've actually just had to write down the seasons from 98/99 onwards to confirm to myself that we've not played anything other the PL football in the new stadium. Does that mean we can now claim to be an established PL side? I still feel relief when we get to 40 points, even if it is by Xmas these days.

That's because it wasn't that long ago this was a possibility. We'll get a new generation of fans coming through and when we hit 40, we'll celebrate and they'll look at us like we're strange.

When we hit 40?
