How many times has he played centrally for us?
And against who?
Face it, most of the games he gets - whether starting or not - he'll be told to operate wide left
(even if he drifts inside a lot)

He has played parts of almost every game centrally, not drifting inside but actually moved there, & has been one of our best players during those periods, better than Jovetic in that position .

Jovetic has only been with us a week, ferChrissakes. We all want Nasri to succeed - Christ knows we've paid him, and Arsenal enough - but we haven't paid for him to moan and groan.

Hasn't been moaning & groaning, just working his arse off on the pitch.

You obviously haven't read his most recent 'moaning & groaning' interview, then

Generally, Wenger did the same thing he ALWAYS does against us ie instructed his team to put long balls behind Lescott every given chance. He does that every time against us.

Overall we looked pretty comfortable considering we were playing at around 80%. Moved the ball around well and once Fernandinho and Yaya find some chemistry (already looked like they were finding each other in earlier games but today couldn't figure it out) I think 4-2-2-2 will work fine.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

That's not witty or funny or relevant to either any situation on here or to the conversation.

Which interview ? What did he say that was wrong ?

The last one I've read he was full of praise for Pellegrini & his team mates. Which interview are you talking about ?

The interview either at - or towards the end of - last season, where he talked about how much he was affected by his whole World Cup experience - 9 months earlier, or whenever.
I didn't want to read what he said about Pellegrini : we had enough of that with Stephen Ireland
Just do all your talking on the pitch - wherever you're asked to play.
And whether he worked his socks off or not, he didn't create anything.

Like I said, he looked a World-beater in those games against Chelsea but he looks like he's slipping back into his whole 'victim mode'

We need to do something different.

Yaya & Fernandinho got absolutely loads of interceptions in midfield, but neither of them read situations at the back like Barry or Nige. They were stopping attacks in midfield & starting our attacks but they weren't looking for danger around our box from Arsenal.

AC Milan & Bayern were able to take a look & pick out passes, leading to goals, & Arsenal were able to do the same. We either have to put an extra man in there or organise the team differently.

So we need a tattooed bloke with a big butt?

It's down to organisation and forcing the issue to change to a different system - nobody likes change.

This is what I hate about a new manager, everything has to be changed overnight. Personally, I'd like to see us continue the systems in place and adopt the new approach going forward. Everybody said it was a shit move by Mancini last pre-season with his 3 at the back and the players seemed to agree. It's not rocket science, we are taught a way that works so we stick to it. Only by proving the new way will it be ably took on board.

It may be that Rodwell or even Milner could cover that area & just sheer numbers would do the job; all they would have to do is close the ball down quicker so people had less time to play an easy pass or make a run, so 3 blokes rather than two may sort it perhaps.

We are in a similar situation defensively as last season imo, so it's a good example. The mistake Clichy made was basic stuff, proper Hansen/Neville tutting pundit material, & I recon that kind of thing is caused by people thinking too much about other stuff.

Last season we lost the basics due to not working enough on what we knew & fucking about with back 5, this season we are working on completely different stuff but again getting the basics wrong.

The problem is, we don't have that type of player anymore if Barry can no longer fulfill that role. Milner and Rodwell are 2 completely different animals, they don't have the brain for it in my opinion.

Todays stuff was just that, basic. I'd assume that the likes of Clichy would be more foccussed come the 19th and that we have a sharper, ready to move, squad come the event. We can all be critical at times like this, just like Hansen or Neville, but I'd hazard to say that we are a little bit better than that and all the tub-thumping is taken in the context that it given.

We'll have a good season next season, we always do.

Well here's a recent one.

Manchester City winger Samir Nasri has claimed that new City boss Manuel Pellegrini is a very similar coach to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, with both having the same calm and relaxed aura about them.

The 59-year-old was well loved during his time at la Rosaleda, and Nasri feels that the man-management skills of the former Villarreal boss are similar to those of Wenger.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Nasri said, “For the moment it’s pretty good. He’s someone who talks with the players, so it’s always good for the player to know exactly what he’s doing; if it’s good or if it’s wrong.

“What I like about him is he talks about everything outside football; how you are in your life and stuff and it’s pretty important for a manager to understand these things, like a psychologist, it’s good.

“He’s a little bit like Arsene Wenger in the way he works. Same kind of training, same attitude as well. What’s different between him and other managers I’ve worked with is he’s very present in training. He’s not scared to stop the training when something is wrong.”

The France international also stated how impressed he was with new Spanish signings Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas during the club’s participation in the Asia Trophy.

“Negredo we saw a little bit of what he’s capable of against South China,” added Nasri. “He’s a top quality player, a good striker. For him it’s going to be easier to adapt to the squad, him and Jesus [Navas], because we have a lot of Spanish players.”

Negredo and Navas joined from Sevilla for a combined fee of £40million, and look set to play a big part in Pellegrini’s plans next season.

Not so much. I've noticed this before as well. It used to be Dunne he was targeting and then Lescott.

People are unbelievably harsh on Nasri. He's worked incredibly hard this pre-season and hes very effective when he gets to play in his natural position. He looks just as good as silva when he's given that same freedom.

I was absolutely 100% for fucking him off & strongly wishing for it but he has really worked hard to redeem himself & definitely has been more effective than Silva when not forced to play as a winger (at which, he is shit).

Lol

Strange affair anyway. I mean not the first time I've been to preseason game but certainly first time I've paid 80 euros for the priviledge.

Besides, it's not like you need to ask anyone. There was period in around 2004/2005 when I did six games in about two years time and we lost five and drew one. I thought I was cursed.
