Valencia has just started a company AV25. He used to have number 25 so went back to that as he had a shite season last year.

As good a reason as any. Why not call it AV7 though?

I can't even recall what particular thread it was but there was a rumour (I believe from Tolmy) that we could expect an amazing signing at some point in the window and that player currently plays in white. It set off a whole stream of pantomime conjecture with theories that the 'in white' could mean bale or ronaldo.
I'm not even going to allow myself a glimmer of excitement on that topic but it does remain that we may shock the market in the next fortnight . . . as may the rags.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Could be anybody but the above would really send the Rags into a tizzy.

Much as the rags would like to re-sign Ronaldo, quite honestly, I can't see him wanting to go.

A big part of his "love for united" IMO was his relationship with bacon....that is no longer a factor

I just cannot see him seeing the same appeal in playing for Gollum. If Jose had problems being able to tell him what to do at RM then...honestly....can you imagine the "relationship" with wee davey?? More than anyone I think Ronaldo would consider if beneath him to accept instructions from someone with "no pedigree"

He would be expected to carry the team. This is not the same united team he left by a long way. Vidic and Camel at the tail end of careers and not replaced. No scholes no real giggs potentially no Rooney no tevez

Would you honestly leave a team full of the talent he has to play with at Real Madrid to join that current united team....it's a massive step down; current champions or not

I just can't see it at all unless they make massive investments elsewhere in the team....and if they do that; they can't afford him

The final piece of the propoganda puzzle, linking Moyes to the succession of McBaconChops. It's done, the Reign of the Precious is now upon us and all of Mordors might will be thrust down to suppress the threat that the mere mortals may bestow onto them.

The end is nigh for all that question the ways of the Ring.

Sorry mate, I only mentioned it in comparison to us getting Pepe. You never know though, apparently Txiki and Ferrano has been spotted in Madrid having a coffee with some agent.

Funny that. A certain owner of a certain pub by that very name stated that Tranny was in or around the stadium yesterday, and signed!

Six months later they were on their way to the FA Cup final, beating Palace in a replay when Lee Martin scored the winner at Wembley.

This weekend David Moyes will start the league programme with an away match, just as Fergie did in November 1986 when United travelled south to the Manor Ground.

They lost 2-0, beaten by Oxford United in front of 13,500 supporters packed into their old stadium.

Those who were there remember Ferguson being surprised by the attention and visibly disturbed by the lack of quality in his United team.

The adjustment takes time, something Moyes has become acutely aware of since he was named Ferguson’s successor.

Another 'Give Him Time' advert from the Mail. The Rags will love that.

The press have already said that Moyes will have a 'free pass' this year, so I expect business as usual. Unless of course it goes really horrible wrong, which is my hope ;)

You're probably right CM, I don't see any deviation from the norm at the swamp.

In other news, Martinez has said the Baines transfer is stone cold. !2 mil seemed to be their limit.

He told the Liverpool Echo : “Before we went to Austria one club officially contacted ourselves with an offer and it was a final offer.

“They put something over and the valuation wasn’t anywhere near the quality of Leighton Baines. That was the end of it but since then there’s been all the speculation, which has been part of what the transfer window is.

“There’s never been another club or anyone else putting in an offer for Leighton. Since then we’ve moved on and we’re continuing to focus on the start of the season."

He added: "When you’ve got an ex-manager who has first-hand information of that you’re going to get that speculation in the media, but the reality is that there has been nothing apart from the contact really early in the season."

And now they are apparently in for Kondogbia, even though there's a 3rd party issue and Sevilla won't take less than 17 mil. Wait a minute, isn't he being linked with Chelsea, Arsenal, Real and us but now the Rags are in for him?

Well, at least the Tranny and Chimp stories have gone a little quiet. I wonder if they'll be more than 12 mil?

In better news, at least they've got one signing:

[urlnp=http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/business/business-news/manchester-united-sign-deal-watchmaker-5718149]Manchester United sign deal with watchmaker Bulova[/urlnp]

There's still a few weeks of the transfer window to go before we can happily call their transfer window a failure, but they do really seem to be struggling to sign players.

Whether there's a reluctance on the Glazers' part to spend, or if playing under Moyes puts players off, I don't know.

With us and Chelsea improving our squads, United can't afford to stand still. We learnt this last summer, but would be fantastic if they get no one of note in.

Furthermore, with Arsenal still making no progress, it's great for us to have done our business so early.

Have they actually stood still or have they gone backwards, so far?

They've got a very good side from last season but so far they have lost Scholes and Giggs (backroom team), and the likes of CamelGob won't be playing every game; not forgetting Shrek of course. The Rags will take a top 3 place as a given but if they fail again in the CL, and the cups, then that's less money in the coffers for next season, again.

I'm sure they'll strengthen but can they do enough, and of such quality, to improve their side? It reminds me of us last season and the last minute buys we got.

I agree - they seem to be heading into the same situation we found ourselves in last season.

A few Bebe-type last minute panic buys would be welcomed :-)
