It seems that Hart didn't take the pre-season games too seriously and wanted to rather use them as a gear-up, but from what I've read he fancies what Pellegrini is doing with the team. I think he'll be out to impress once the season kicks off and be back to his old self. The squad seem to be pro-Pellegrini from what I gather, and that counts (sic) a lot for our title hopes.

Newcastle are likely to have Cisse, Gutierrez, Gouffran, and HBA as their attackers. Playing without a DFM seems like it won't be too big of an issue for us vs Newcastle; I don't believe any of those players have pace aside from HBA, who we need to keep an eye on so he doesn't get behind like Walcott last week.

I hope come Monday night, and as all games have been played in Gameweek 1, we'd be at the top of the table with 3 points (and whatever the goal difference needed to be at the top) ... and then we stay there for the remainder of the season ... that'd be something.

What's wrong in wishing? but that's how I feel tonight!

PS. Anyone seen Owen's predictions on BT Sport's season preview? He thinks 1. Chelsea, 2. United, 3. City and 4. Liverpool. What are they smoking over there ...

I honestly have no idea what team to expect on Monday night but really looking forward to it.I would stick with Hart in goal and a back four of Richards, Vincent, Lescott and Clichy.Zabba has traveled with Argentina so would go for Richards. In midfield Yaya and Fernandinho with Silva on the left and Navas on the right.Upfront Dzonky and Negredo. So hard to know really as I would really like to see Zabaleta,Rodwell, Jovetic and Milner involed.Great depth to the squad.

Zabba only went to Rome to see the pope ;-) the spaniards ala, Silva & Negredo etc went to Ecuador so IF anything I'd expect to see them rested more than others.

That said, I think Micah will get the nod & the Count appears to have pretty much said that Hart is his first choice (for now).

So I think... Hart, Micah, vinny, lescott, clichy pretty much pick themselves. MF, I agree with YaYa & fernandinho, but unless the count is happy with no fatigue of travel of the spaniards I think the alternative would be Milner & Nasri with Dzeko plus one more up front, Aguero may be?

Basically it'll be a few weeks before we can even second guess MP's preferred line up unless he is going to go rotational big time? At this stage, who knows, exciting times though :-)

I'm hoping the count really hypes them up and tells them to go for the jugular. I want see the team play like they did in the first 30 mins against AC Milan - unstoppable.

So with that in mind I would like to see:

Hart
Zaba. Komps. Lescott. Clichy.
Fern. Yaya.
Navas. Silva. Jovetic
Dzeko

Could always play Negrado instead of Dzeko, not bothered either way with these two. Both will score.

Hart
Zabs--Komps--Klingon--Clichy
Navas--Fred--Yaya--Silva
Jovetic
Dzeko

Probably play Negredo and Dzeko again, although I believe that will be our least effective pairing

Here's some lucky omens:

Last two titles have been won by teams kicking the season off with mnf

Last two teams to win the community shield didn't win the title that year

So I'm glad the rags won the shield and were kicking off on Monday!

I wonder if Count von Krolock would prefer to tire out the Geordies with our traditional Mancini style mucho passing, no end product game, then suddenly unleash Navas & possibly Negredo later in the proceedings, especially if we haven't scored by then.

Can't wait now. Still someone needs to point out it may take some time to get the set up sorted, no scrub may take time, it WILL take time, but hopefully we will be good enough anyway to grab wins while that is happening.

It is going to be interesting seeing how all the new lads start to fit in and what it gives us, then how The Count uses that.

We need goals in this game !!!!!!! Rags are at the top of table and it hurts to seem them there any longer, those suckers have the habit of sticking to that place.

Hit them hard him them in the beginning, show others we are here to win.

Line Up

Hart
Richards - Kompany - Lescott - Clichy
Fernandinho - Garcia
Milner - Nasri - Jovetic
Aguero

Barry for Garcia, would make sense but if he really is leaving then he wont figure in the lineup. Silva/Negredo/Yaya/Navas/Dzeko traveled a lot so mostly might be brought on later as substitutes
