6 HG players should be present in squad of 23, right now we have 7. So if Sinclair is sold, we would not want to sell Lescott, even if Lescott wants to leave when new defender comes(unless new defender is HG)

Hart - HG
Clichy - HG
Lescott - HG
Micah - HG
Milner - HG
Wright - HG
Sinclair - HG

Boyta - Not sure

Wright seems to be in our squad only to make up for the HG numbers

Barry? Is he not part of this thing?

It seems we're trying to unload him.

You are right, I missed the big man. Then we are doing quite off the border on HG list then

Where did you get 6 from 23?

It's 8 from 25.

And you missed Rodwell and Guidetti.

City set to swoop for Pepe this weekend as Pellegrini looks to fill Nastasic injury hole
By ADAM CRAFTON

Real Madrid defender Pepe remains Manchester City’s leading defensive target - and City officials are hoping to conclude a deal ahead of the club’s opening game of the Premier League season at home to Newcastle United on Monday evening.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini is determined to add to his defensive ranks ahead of the new season, and the 30-year-old Portuguese star is seen as the ideal partner for City captain Vincent Kompany.
City have had an opening bid - thought to be worth around £16million - rejected and Sportsmail understands that the club’s oil-rich owners are prepared to pay in excess of £23million for Pepe despite his advancing years.

Heading to England? Pepe was with the Portuguese national team this week
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reluctant to lose the powerful centre-half but the emergence of Raphael Varane last season has led many at Madrid to believe that Pepe could be allowed to leave should the right offer be put on the table.
Kolo Toure’s summer departure to Liverpool and the injury suffered by Matija Nastasic in pre-season has left Pellegrini short of options in the centre of defence as he launches his bid to win the Premier League title in his first season in charge at the club.
Although Micah Richards can deputise at centre-back, Pellegrini intends to rotate the Englishman with Pablo Zabaleta in the right full-back position while doubts remain about Joleon Lescott, whose City contract expires at the end of this season.
Pedigree: He was training alongside fellow Real Madrid players Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao

Pellegrini also believes that Pepe, who has over 50 international caps, could be pivotal to City’s hopes of improving in the Champions League this season after consecutive group stage exits under former boss Roberto Mancini.
Should Pellegrini succeed in capturing Pepe, it would take City’s summer spending beyond the £100million mark, with the defender following Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo into the Etihad Stadium.
On the up: Real Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 in Miami during pre-season

Looks like Pepe is a no-go. Varane's injury rehab suffered a set back. Real are gonna need Pepe now

I would imagine Real would want to sign someone anyway, even if Verane was fit, if they are to let Pepe go. Just trusting Verane for a whole season would be very risky, as talented as he is. Kids lose form.

I imagine Pepe/Varane would be pairing Ramos in the middle of defense. Now that Varane is injured they need Pepe. If Varane loses form, as he might and you suggest, Pepe and Varane could partner up.

I see this as the nail in the coffin for our Pepe deal...but that's just me. I could be way off base.

I don't want Pepe. Rather make do and bring Nasty back soon as he's fit. There isn't room for another auto first choice CB. Nasty will be better than Pepe without doubt so let's just play Lescott for a few weeks. Problem solved.

Lescott in the CL fills me with a sense of dread, so I can see Pellegrini's thinking. If we started with Lescott in the PL, probably OK, but one injury and we're down to the glacial Garcia.

MP wants a high line central defender - Lescott, for all his many virtues, is not that.

sounds like we're in for Martin Demichellis (?) from Atletico Madrid. He signed on a free for them this summer from.......Malaga.
And, supposedly, he'd be available for 5m. I guess Pellegrini rates him?

Anyone know anything about him?
