Trautmann statue

Postby BobbyJ1956 » Fri Aug 16, 2013 10:24 am

Assuming the club commission a statue for Bert Trautmann (as they should), what should it look like? I've been going through old photos of him in action - there's a good one on the club site this morning, Trautmann punching away a ball at the old Highbury I think, so they should get the club's historians in on choosing a photo to copy into a statue. Not the one of him diving at Murphy's feet when he did his neck, though, let's not have him defined by that moment.

There used to be a great one in the museum, it still somewhere in the ground and seen on the tour. It wont be suitable for outdoors but a stone version of the same statue would be ideal for in the memorial garden, should also re-name the garden in his honour.

Great shout.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Top suggestion - a great tribute that would be appreciated by everyone.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Would one of the ends not be more appropriate for a keeper?

Could have Swift at one end and Bert at the other!

The initials and timing of our new buisness venture is a apt coincidence here....

May I just remind you that it is the Marc Vivien Foe memorial garden created by the club after we moved in 2003 when Marc, cruelly taken from us, should have been starting every week in a blue shirt.
