The only difference between this game and Barca's destruction of Levante last night was that they finished better than us.

This was total and utter domination. Could have easily been 6/7 if we had taken our chances better... wonderful display nonetheless. The team looks incredibly balanced, and without Jovetic, Nastasic and Richards too.

Everyone played well today - fantastic start to the season.

That was the statement of intent we needed to make after United and Chelsea both won this weekend.

Just one thing: I saw today in 90 minutes, how we would have looked if we had bought a winger last summer and i am thinking at Hazard.

We would have still been defending champions

hazard isn't a winger, and we would not have played like we just did. Under bobby, Dzeko and aguero looked like a hopeless combination ... today they looked like the best strike partnership in the league.

At Lille he was a full time winger.

Still in shock from the denied penalty and that outrageous offside.

Great all round performance. Well in Edin too, he was magnificent.

Navas looks very tasty. Fernandinho looked composed too, allowed Yaya to free himself up a bit.

I think the only thing I saw that was negative was the lack of Barry - I mean this in that he was always the first player coming back to look for a pass from defence and turn it forward. There were periods tonight where it seemed a lack of anybody dropping to collect the ball left the defence to lump it every now and again.

Looking good though.

I did like the look of that new signing, number 8. Seemed really hungry , scored a good goal with a nice finish and overall looked decent.

We calmed it down once Taylor went off but in reality that game could've been 8-0, with Dzeko's efforts it could've been 12-0.

Great game for us, less so for the Toon and if they hadn't have settled for the score could well have been a real disaster (if it wasn't already (losing Taylor and Gutierriez)).

This is what we were missing last season and if we'd only had these additions last season, the Rags wouldn't have had it half as easy has they did.

But it's good in the end. If a striker scores in his first official game for the club he will become a failure in the end. The linesman saved us. Trust me.

I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Awesome football. Loved every minute. Should have been double figures except for that c**t Mariner. Newcastle should have been down to 0 two penalties missed and Negredo onside by the size of Alan Sugars boardroom. Mariner should be demoted. If we had lost that game Maroner would have been back page news. Gutted we still have shit referees in the Premier League
