I'm hoping it's not serious, you could see exactly what he did as he slid in to hook the ball away. Fingers crossed.

if we only play against 10-man sides it looked like Garcia /might/ be sufficient cover.

Hash tag: Worried.

Very surprised there was no Micah on the bench and hoping he's just got a tweak himself.

DoomMerchant wrote:if we only play against 10-man sides it looked like Garcia /might/ be sufficient cover.

He didn't play there in pre-season for no reason. He'll be a part-timer who can cover a couple of positions.

Pellers will bring him on so we can get a decent price for him.

Looked a bit more than a tweak - there are 3 degrees of groin strain, with the most severe being 3rd degree resulting in a tear of the muscle - very painful indeed.

I reckon how he got up and hobbled off it's no more than a 2nd degree strain with some tissue damage rather than a muscular tear. I reckon 2-4 weeks, but what the fuck do I know.....

It's tainted slightly what was otherwise a top night, I too hope we don't panic buy

He has a hamstring tear (again), out for a month.

We really need to bring another CB, Komps and Micah get injured far too much, we need a plan B.

I was in agony with mine mate and it lasted longer than I thought because I carried on regardless. It resulted in crutches and I felt a right cunt.

Seems Vince was wrong to play for Belgium at that time. Let's hope it doesn't bit us on the arse, he was great tonight.

Yes very painful and bruising can be pretty colourful too - though thankfully for Vinnie......

1) He didn't carry on regardless
2) the treatment he will get will be second to none

It turned out quite funny in the end. I was doing hill reps with my dog who tripped me up and I landed on my hip on a rock. The Doc said it was a nasty groin strain whilst I was adamant it was my hip. The physio decreed it was both but continued to use a seat belt to pull my hip back in place. Very strange as the fucker looked as if he was shagging my leg but all worked out in the end.

As for Vinnie, he's fucked and needs more than a month . He carried on regardless for Belgium and will always have problems unless he/we sort it out properly.

Is it the same side as before? He did look very frustrated/pissed off as he left the pitch. He has (like the rest of the squad) come through a rigorous pre season by all accounts.

If it is the same side as before then I agree it is a concern as there could be a weakness there.

As for how you did yours - well you just can't make that up, pure drama mate!

Groins strains are prone to re-occur.
From the look of his discomfort looked at least a second degree injury. I reckon Beefy's "over a month" wont be far out.

Micah is injured (hamstring) and out for a month. Nasti is only going to start training with the squad next week so is probably about two or possibly three weeks to getting a full game. Komps at the best is out for 2 weeks (and that's the best case scenario) ... all we have is Lescott and Garcia to partner him there.

Next two games are Cardiff (away) and Hull (home) so possibly not too crucial and we can manage to beat them at the other end. But after that its Stoke and then the derby!

I think we do need a cover for CB and not just a part-timer ... Pepe or similar calibre preferred as we will soon have other fronts opened (Champions League/ League Cup, then games come hard and fast in Nov/Dec and then add FA Cup Jan on) so I don't think we have enough depth at the back.

Worst is both Komps and Nasti will start to get better and ready to come back in (2-3 weeks from now) and then it's international break so they'll all fuckl off to play for their countries and their national managers will fucking play them as well for full 90mins x2 games. When will we start keeping our players from joining international squads like rags do all the time. Their players always get conveniently injured, and instead of going playing take a nice little break and by the time PL returns they magically recover from their injuries ... so bloody blatant at times too.

http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/man-city/news/pellegrini-kompany-out-for-one-or-two-weeks_99612.html

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has declared that he expects Vincent Kompany will be out for a up to a fortnight with a groin injury.

Kompany was forced off with a groin problem during City's 4-0 win over Newcastle United last night, the latest in a long line of knocks for the City skipper.

Pellegrini thinks that the initial prognosis looks positive for the Belgian international, with a more precise estimate on the defender's recovery expected in the next 24 hours.

He told BBC Sport: "Kompany we will see how he is when the doctor sees him. I can't tell you exactly what happened, but it is not a serious injury and will possibly be one or two weeks."

City began life under Pellergini with a comfortable victory over Newcastle last night, thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri.
"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare."

Didn't look to me the sort of thing that will be OK - permanently - by Sunday.

Luckily the way we seem to be playing the oppo wont spend much time in our half so Javi Garcia and Lescott should cope until we play someone decent. Lescott had a half decent game until he tried to pass - truly appalling with the ball.

That said I'd rather get Pepe or DeMichelis in today!

I thought you'd all love to see the ace Metro reporter Jamie Sanderson responsible for this cracker

"Manchester City sweating on ‘serious’ Vincent Kompany injury"

http://metro.co.uk/2013/08/20/manuel-pe ... y-3930402/?

based on Pelligrini's after match interview
Pellegrini said: “Kompany we will see how he is when the doctor sees him. I can’t tell you exactly what happened, but it is not a serious injury and will possibly be one or two weeks.”

Vincent Kompany ‏@VincentKompany 9h
Team was great. I felt great. Injury is a blow after all the hard work. I'll be back to that level in no time. Thanks for all the support!.
