Gabriel Fernando thanks me for my support

Postby john@staustell » Thu Aug 22, 2013 2:01 pm

But who the fuck is he?

http://www.cheshire-today.co.uk/20192/

Highly rated Brazilian youngster Gabriel Fernando has walked away from a contract offer with Manchester City to join their rivals Manchester United.

The 16-year-old, who joined City in March last year from Sporting Lisbon was seen as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects and was offered a long-term contract.

However, Fernando took to Twitter to confirm that he refused a deal to remain at City.

When asked whether he had been released from City or if he had refused to stay, Fernando replied: ‘Refused.’

United are now expected to offer the youngster terms, though according to the Daily Mail he has already been training with the United youth team.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “I would like to thank all the Manchester City fans for their support and the stuff to help me develop my game.”
“I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.”

He was tweeting insults about Utd last season, then it appears his agent & his dad have done some kind of deal & he's off.

He is a very very classy player in that agegroup. Doesn't mean he will make it of course, but this is one occasion where a player with a genuine chance of making it has been pinched.

The more quality players we unearth though, the more people will try to steal them, & there's nothing we can do to stop it if they decide to go, same as clubs will lose players to us.

I just hope we find some way of securing/bribing Pozo before the Spanish clubs in come for him.

This is another reason I don't buy the whole building the team through the Academy. What's the use of uncovering
players if other football clubs just come in and snatch them up? Even if we do the same thing to smaller club .... Are we not
big enough not to be a feeder club ourselves? Call me what you want, but at least when you draft a player
in an American sport, 99 percent of the time he'll sign with this team.

How is the draft system relevant ? Pro Football, Basketball, Baseball and Ice Hockey teams do nothing for youth academies or bring players on themselves. In general that's what the college system does, and very well i might add.

Cleaner from our work is from Ghana and his lad plays for our under 16s.

He just told me that we didn't offer him a contract as he was too selfish and really disrespectful. Had the attitude that he was better than everyone just because he was from Brazil. Said he had been moved up a level and given a run in the 18s but tried to go on his own all the time.

I find it really interesting talking to him every morning - tells me our academy set up is really strong, the club does everything right for the young lads (not just on the pitch, the link up with St Bedes is excellent) and the new campus is really driving the youngsters on as they all want to be a part of it.

He also said they're getting nervous as some will get let go in November!

I have heard similar rumours.

If he is selfish & disrespectful, he's gone to the right place. They see that kind of thing as an asset.

Yes it's a pretty unlikely situation that he would leave if he'd been offered a deal. Obviously his pride is hurt and and he's trying not to look embarrassed.

I read it as the cleaner from Ghana's son, who plays U16's, knows this young Fernando lad who is selfish etc.

No Ted, The lad from Ghana is selfish and disrespectful and he has had a Brazilian and will be a sweeper for the rags. I am sure that there's an Abba song in there somewhere too.
