hopefully not the scum.

Why would spurs sell to a direct rival unless it was stupid money? so does that leave PSG?

Just trying to screw more money out of Madrid - cant believe anyone else is in for him at the sort of fee and money that's being talked about.

Breaking news ticker on sky.

Quickly changed to 'spurs yet to agree fee with Madrid'

To be fair I couldn't imagine Bale wanting to go anywhere else now.

Neil Ashton, as of lateish last night, is claiming Bale is clear to sign for Madrid & giving a timeline of meetings etc for how it happened.

Proper twat if it's not true.

Honestly, is Bale worth anywhere near what's being touted?

Nowhere near it, considering his form last season I would think he is worth in the region of 30-40 million.Fair play to Spurs if they do flog him for 80+ million being reported. That would be some bit of business.

I agree and just cannot fathom why Real would pay such a price, even their president said they'd been priced out. I wonder if all the hype in the media has pushed Bale's value to far to the right and they are being more realistic with their bid; Levy them tries to force their hand with 'Other Bids' leak.

Bale will sign for R Madrid and the rest is smokescreen.

If he gives a new club say 4 seasons like he gave Spurs last season he is worth £80M as he would win the title for them.

Worth approx 20 mil a year (plus wages)? I'm not sure if he's got the pulling power (shirt sales) as Tranny but I bet he'd shift a few banana's for them ;-)

Saying that, if he plays like he did last season and with Tranny on the other side I'd say they'd be a good bet for the CL, as well as La Ligue.

Don't believe half the crap in the papers - it's Levy trying to add to his 'tough negotiator' image through leaked hints and snippets. I think the price was agreed a while back on the provision Spurs makes one or two signings before the announcement (leading to those shirts being on sale with Bale's name on them when it looked like Willian was a certainty for Spurs just before Chelsea hijacked him)

I'm wondering if Levy is doing a Swales here, & trying to make the deal stretch til the deadline day, so he 'doesn't have time' to spend any more money.

Considering we were willing to spend 100 million on Kaka then I'd say so.

Kaka was the greatest player in the world only a couple of years before we made that bid. The equivalent of us putting a bid in for a 27 year old Ronaldo or Messi right now.

Bale has done nothing to suggest he is the best player in world football.

Far fucking from it.

At the time we made the bid though Kaka was on the decline and he never got close to hitting the heights of his past at Madrid. Not getting him was a blessing in disguise.

Bale isn't as good as either of those. But he's 3 years younger than both and if he keeps improving the way he has been he can get up there.

He was magical last season. He scored 31 goals in all competitions and he also scored plenty of big goals and late winners.

They've spent 50 odd mill & brought in 20 odd. So they'll be about 50/ 60 mil in profit once Bale goes.

I'm well aware of how kaka worked out at madrid. That's no the point.

The point is, at the time, we were bidding for a player who had recently been voted the best player in world football.

Bale is not even top 5.

Agree.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
