To be honest, I'm not really sure what the title says...

Agreed, then. However, although I'd like to keep Barry for the first half of the season. I get the feeling that the boss has a different role in mind for Fernandinho long-term, once he knows his best 2 or 3 striking formations.

Fernadinho has a classy touch, as predicted he needs some time to adapt to the PL. I really think he's a similar player to Yaya and at times they are making the same exact run. In the meantime I prefer to play Rodwell or Barry instead.

A 40 mil guy should directly be a leading person on the pitch . There is no way that we play somebody else while he gets time to adapt . Wrong transfer from my point of view anyway

He will come good. The lad is a talent and is learning his role. As the team becomes more in tune with each other and the formations, the better he will become.

Watch this space with him. I have seen lots of good things already to not write him off within 3 games.

Fernandinho played much better and started to look like a threat.

He and Yaya even did the occasional mopping up.

The problem is and will remain to be occasional mopping up won't keep clean sheets against genuine prem attacks very often.

That's Michael Owen's MoM you're talking about. Not sure why!

Seems to cover one heck of a lot of ground but gives the ball away a bit too much sometimes. Obviously a lot more mobile than GazzBazz and I think he will get better the more he plays in the Prmier.

I don't like the comparison as they aren't really the same type of player, well not completely anyway.Watching games so far this season I do think we have missed Barry a lot.He had a true defensive mindset and put out fires before they started. His positional sense was superb.Of course he was slow in a race but he was so often in the right place it rarely mattered.

I like Fred a lot from what I have seen so far but I see him as more of a playmaker than Barry. He works very hard but, as has been said elsewhere he is all over the place and has more than defensive duties it seems to me. I worry about Yaya.

We all know Yaya has massive quality but defensively he is dangerous. If I were a midfielder against him I would be looking to just to run past him,to look at the space behind him as he is not a good tackler and turns and recovers like the QE2 and that's if he bothers recovering at all. Also he is the focal point for all City's developing attacks. Players look to pass it to him all the time and he isn't exactly a quick at moving the ball is he.His best role always has been and always will be for me when he is moved forward and freed of all defensive work.

Milner or Rodwell for me to play centrally with Fred.

Looks to me like Yaya and Fernadinho should be sharing the defensive duties while still going forward, so we don't have an obvious DM. Barry when playing is an obvious DM, but maybe Pellegrini wants more going forward. Thats going to take time to get used to each other until they work out who is covering who and when.

Fernadinho still hasn't quite realized how little time he will have on the ball but he will.

How people can't see that Fernandinho actually had a pretty good game & did most of the things he is supposed to do & indeed did more than most players on the pitch, well it's just fucking depressing tbh.

I would expect tv twats to look out for any faults & jump on them, but I would expect City fans to look at the good aspects as well as the bad & weigh it up from there. But then again, most people still don't know what Barry does after watching him for 4 years, so..

Fernandinho started the game badly & nervously & ended it as the hest player on the pitch. Clearly, some made up their minds after 20 mins.

He will never be as good as Barry at his job, never. But yesterday he was a far better midfield player than Silva or Navas.

I think Fernandinho has got the right attributes to be a success in the Prem. He will need time to fully adjust, but I think he can become a good player for us.

He isn't a defensive midfielder, and so it isn't his natural inclination to sit back and cover the area in front of the defence. Therefore, we can't expect him to do that.

On the other hand, we have Barry, Milner and/or Rodwell who can do that job, but Pellegrini, so far, doesn't seem to think it's necessary...even though it clearly is!
