hmmm you must not have watched the hull game then

I did watch the Hull game. He was absolutely fine. Far from our worst player on the pitch and saved us at the end with a cracking tackle. He's had some shockers In the past but as I said that game was not one of them.

Well miscontrolling the ball, giving it away with silly passes means you think he is decent, then I am lost for words

Exactly. One good tackle at the end of the game does not paper over the multitude of cracks in his game. Awful player, one of the worst left backs I have ever seen at City and the sooner we get rid the better

Well you must think both Silva and Aguero are shit too though because both of them miscontrolled the ball more and gave away more silly passes than Kolarov in that game.
Oh wait those two are immune from criticism. My bad.

depends in which transition of play it is, if its in the final 3rd where quick 1-2's are trying to unlock the defence, then this is acceptable. But when your a fullback playing the ball backwards and sideways and still screw it up, then Yes he was crap.

The thing with Kolarov is there wouldn't even be a discussion as to whether he's good or not if it weren't for the occasional rocket free-kick.

Purely as a defender, which is what he is after all, he's atrocious. It's no good being aggressive in the tackle if you're doing so as a reaction to not being tight enough in the first place. He seems to constantly give acres of space to wingers and then tries to recover. Trouble is if he's up against anyone with pace it's game over.

I actually think we made a mistake getting rid of Garrido, who was a far more reliable back-up option to Clichy.

Oh so it's okay when SIlva tries to force the play and gives the ball away but not okay when Kolarov does the same? A bad pass is a bad pass wherever it is on the field and Silva misplaced just as many if not more.. It's also okay for Aguero to have a shocker and play like a greedy cunt yet no one calls him out on it? But Kolarov hits a couple of wayward passes and he deserves a thread criticising him? I don't even recall Kolarov him giving the ball away that much on Saturday. When did he give it away? How many goals did he give away? None is the answer.

Yes its ok for Silva, he is a creative player who sees options and tries to unlock defences. Kolarov just needs to give the ball to a team mate and stop people getting past him....Rocket science it isnt!!!

IT isn't fucking okay. It's not okay if he tries stupid passes which very rarely come off and gives the ball away. Why can Silva play shit and get away with it? How many times did someone get past Kolarov on Saturday? And how many times did he give it away?

Kolorov scares me to death with his defensive skills! Winds me up when he gets caught out of position and the other team are attacking and he's just jogging back.

I agree with you re Silva, but Kolarov did fuck up some real simple passes.

The reason nobody got past him though is because he wasn't there half the game. Lescott & Nastasic were having to cover that huge hole & the striker plus midfield sneaking behind Yaya, all at the same time.

the reason Silva is called Merlin is because he sees options that other players dont, he views things from a different perspective, I dont want Silva to take the safe option each time, I want him to continue to conjure and create. Where as Kolarov should keep it simple, he is limited in his ability in comparison to Silva.

Continue to defend Kolarov all you want BRF it just makes you look as stupid as he plays

SIlva hasn't done that for about 18 months now. And has mostly been shite. Yet he never ever gets criticised on here. There's a difference between trying to create and trying a ball which will never come off. Silva does the latter far more often. He tries threading a ball through and you know before he plays it that it won't come off. I don't view this as being 'creative', it's fucking stupid at times.

I'm not defending Kolarov, I don't rate him. I've not said I do. I said he's 'decent' option for a home game when we're gonna be on the attack the whole game.
I even said I wouldn't play him against a good side.
He did fuck all wrong against Hull and had it not been for his last ditch tackle we may well have not got all 3 points.
And again, you've said he got skimmed and gave the ball away. Can I have the facts to prove this please? How many times was he skimmed, how many times did he give the ball away?
Zabaleta was far, far worse against Cardiff.

Stop making things up....if you want FACTS lets start with where I said he got Skimmed? I was at the game game, were you? If so you need your eyes testing as everyone I spoke to at the game when talking about the defence singled out Kolarov as poor.

The idea that Silva has been crap for 18 months is ridiculous. He's had spells where he has been normal-ish. End of story.

Armchair fan? Fuck right off. I had a season ticket for years, the last of which being the title winning season. Since then I have not been living in the UK full time, sorry if I can't afford a 500/600 quid round trip every two weeks to see the games. And I watch pretty much every game, either in Tv or a stream. I watched the Hull game and I don't see what Kolarov did massively wrong? Please tell me what he did wrong this game? You sseemd to imply he miscontrolled passes and gave the ball away? WHEN DID HE DO THIS? And what do you mean by 'stop players getting past him'? Because getting past someone with the ball =skimming

AND THIS ALL CAME FROM ME CRITICISING HIM SAYING HE WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY AGAINST DECENT TEAMS.
I said he's a 'decent' option against SMALLER TEAMS at HOME. DECENT, not great, not brilliant, just decent.
Against SMALLER TEAMS AT HOME, not Chelsea away etc. In fact he's got himself on the scoresheet in such games.

And again he was far from the worst player on the pitch on Staurday.

Spent enough energy on you today... Now there is a FACT

Typical, typical, typical.
Absolute refusal to answer the question I asked.
It was an argument of your making because I said he wasn't good enough against decent teams but was a decent option against small teams at home and you took massive offence to this.

the reason Silva is called Merlin is because he sees options that other players dont, he views things from a different perspective, I dont want Silva to take the safe option each time, I want him to continue to conjure and create.

I don't know why I bother with you. That's such fucking crap again. Silva is our creative force. It would be completely pointless discussion if someone started slagging Silva, we don't have anyone who does anything remotely similar to him.

You are consistently so lost on very basic football systems and how players should operate in them but I hope you at very least realise that Silva has never been asked to take the easy option in passing. Considering his amazing passing skills he could go all game without missing a pass. But obviously they are asking him to be adventurous which he is CONSISTENTLY IN EVERY SINGLE GAME. He has by far the most time on the ball in our attacking third and is our playmaker.

I know you love numbers. Did you know that Silva actually had MORE assists last season than in his debut season. And you consistently claim that he is "living off his debut season".

Our main problem is that we don't have anyone to take the creative pressure off him. Most teams are basically man marking him at all times. When some team tries to be daring and don't sacrifice someone to tail him at all times he always runs a riot.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
