International Week

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

International Week

Postby Beefymcfc » Fri Sep 06, 2013 12:16 pm

A big international game tonight against the mighty Moldova that we need to win. Will we miss the likes of Wiggy, Sturridge, Johnson and Jones or will Moldova just roll over and allow Lambert to continue from where he left of?

Although a few may say 'It's shit', I actually like supporting my national team, especially as there's no PL games to watch.

Anyway, here's the home nations (+1).

Macedonia v Wales 18:00
Northern Ireland v Portugal 19:45
R. of Ireland v Sweden 19:45
England v Moldova 20:00
Scotland v Belgium 20:00

Anybody getting involved?

Much more interested in the Belgium game as England's is a formality or should be anyway.

I will either go to a concert or watch Ireland-Sweden. Haven't really decided yet.
It's a huge game for both team, though. They both need the three points to stay in the race for a play-off spot.

Just noticed that they've got the team sheet out already:

Joe Hart (Manchester City)
Kyle Walker (Tottenham)
Gary Cahill (Chelsea)
Phil Jagielka (Everton)
Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)
Theo Walcott (Arsenal)
Rickie Lambert (Southampton)

Disappointed Sturrdige is out tbh. He's definitely our best striker imo. Not really sure about a midfield 3 of Gerrard, Lamaprd and WIlshire, all 3 like to bomb on. I suppose though against Moldova we should be able to get away with it.

Is a bit of a shame that Sturridge went home and I can see Wilshire joining him early on.

Hope Lambert has a good game, deserves a chance.

Will be mainly watching the Ireland game with dips accross to the England game, RoI must get at least a point from that but idealy need to get 3, tough ask really.

The whole England set up is a disgrace and has been for a while - I used to be a fanatical supporter and would watch every game no matter what...not anymore though...and in response to a comment above , there is no such thing as a "Formality win" for England - we are NOT good enough.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"
