Looking for some derby related articles on the net to further get me in the mood I found this. Not necessarily inspirational it was hardly a classic, but interesting to reflect on what it was like then versus now.

You only have to look at our team to realise how drastically things have changed.

Sky media in scum overdrive this morning showing every rag win at ours, and fuck all city wins.
I fucking hope that our team turn up with our 'A' game and pulverize these bastards once and for all.

I was awake early enough to watch the UFC on BT sport. Ive been told off by the wife for being too excitable and so has my little boy who is looking forward to his first derby.

Hope we win

These days aren't fun anymore! The pacing about and nerves are shit. It was more pleasant being the underdog for all those years as we couldn't really lose. Although it was painful we'd built up pretty thick skins to deal with it.

Now we go in as favourites more often than not and the pressure is worse. Especially as we're much the better side. Just hope we play as we can and we'll slaughter them.

I'm looking forward to it and feeling suprisingly easy about todays game. I'm feeling like I did before the Plzen game, as if we're going to give a display going forward.

I'm quietly confident that we're coming away with the points and even more confident that we will not lose.

Who's going to be the standout player though. Will it be one of the defence or will it be someone going forward? I'm hoping it's the latter.

Edit: Bloody hell, anybody looked at the table? Best case scenario is that we could be top come the final whistle and worse case we could be 10th!

Felt more confident when our defense was solid but attack more stagnant at times. If we defend like the first 4-5 games this season then we could lose 4-0 as quickly as we could win by that margin...

I'm hoping it doesn't impact on Pellers thinking. He did say he likes to attack so it could be one of them games where we see both teams play to their strengths. We dominate possession and play good football whilst they play on the break and use the longball out for their runners.

That table makes the game look totally different.

Oh, and feck you Sky. Why just have random footage of van Pussy scoring that deflected goal? I'm assuming they will now show one of ours randomly. Vinnies header will do. Let's wait and see.

Confidence will be key today. We need to go into the game on the front foot and be ruthless - give them nothing.
If our defence can keep their front two quiet, we will win comfortably.
If they get their heads up, it will be a close game like last year.

But i do think our forward play will be enough to score at will and the Ferdinand, Vidic partnership will struggle against our quicker players.
Fingers crossed for a successful afternoon and huge confidence boosting win.

Here we go, after the adverts.

Can't wait.

Edit: They must be doing really really randomly. I'll keep waiting, it's got be on soon.

There's a marginally interesting article on the mirror on-line site today, it informs that this is the first time in 77 years that City and the rags have met under 2 managers who have both never presided over a Manchester derby.
The account describes that the last time this happened was in 1936. Wilf Wild was the City Manager on the day and the rags had Scott Duncan in charge, the score in the game was 3-2 to the rags but there was a very happy ending as the twats were relegated at the end of that season.

I have us down for a win today but if the scum do sneak it then I'll accept that but only if history repeats itself and they go down.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

That's wierd, the Beeb said it was in '47 with Jock Thomson and Matt Busby. They can't both be right.

The stat I liked on their was that we'd scored in our last 52 PL home games.

my views for what its worth.. Pelle won't listen.. but here goes:

1) play yaya further forward. this means playing milner(?) in the middle.
2) play negredo over dzeko. much better player, better at passing, link up play and will be a physical hand full for the rags. however, dzeko will likely play because he scored mid week
3) and most controversial.... lescott to play instead of nasti.
