Shearer was right on MOTD2 when he said that Di Canio is no more and no less of a crackpot than everyone expected. Why go to all that bother to get him, give him plenty of money to revamp the squad and then drop him so soon?

Gus Poyet might be a good shout for their next manager

Like 'Arry at QPR, the new manager will be appointed after they roll over for them. Although perhaps managers aren't as matey with Moyles.

This.

Disgusting cult figure.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

See ya!

I've read that his deal ensured that his contract was fully paid up in the event of his sacking, so he's now one very rich little fascist.

Not surprised. Constantly slagging off his players every week, who he thinks he is? Mancini.

I won't forget the way Sunderland fans treated the rags to City songs and the Poznan after the game on 13 May 2011. They deserve better than Di Canio.

He was entertaining though. Football needs characters like him. I will never forget winding him up when we played West Ham at maine road in 2001. Every time he took a corner, he was a class player though. But we won 1-0 :-)

OK, say what you like about Di Canio, but at least he got the training at Sunderland to run on time.

There was always a good chance he'd save them from relegation on sheer adrenalin alone. That worked.

For such a combustible, egotistical and inexperienced individual to succeed on a long term basis was another matter altogether.

Might be wrong but didn't he start the season as the bookies' favourite to be first for the chop?

The problem he has is that owners will see him too much of a risk. Having players who have combustible personalities is one thing, but having a manager who can flare up any time as well is a totally different story.

Until he learns how to control himself, I don't see how any PL club will hire him to be the face of the club and lead the club to glory.

Quite.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."
