Potentially the best news of the weekend by far.

They're 13th at the moment if Swansea hold off Arsenal. God knows what the Rag Tops will have to say about that.

Arse just scored, Rags back to the higher position of 12th.

Well it is a rum do. Villa awful and score 3. These things happen in football. Thoughts. Milner has to be sold, he will never grow up.Why have we spent £30 mill on a guy who trots around in mid field doing fuck all? Ted can go on about it as much as he likes but Dino is a feckin non event, as is Jovetic.Only one good player bought this window by anybody and we all know who that is. But count our blessings, look at the shit Spurs have bought, look at Chelsea and William. Its a bloody weird game these days. Not getting a dominant cb was a big mistake for us. That would have taken us away from the pack and is a must next window.

I note Pellegrini is "perplexed" and cant fathom that performance out. Thing is, we had another "cant fathom that" game at Cardiff last month, and indeed another one back in May in the Cup final - a no-show that still hasnt been explained to the 40k of us whi paid significant money to watch City piss the game away without throwing a punch.

Fact is we are now a Cup side; a classic "on our day" team, who can beat, or lose, to just about anyone on any given day.

There isnt a statistic in football to record how bad our defending was for Villa's laughable 3rd goal today, and after Nastasic's absolute horror show, if Lescott doesnt get a game on wednesday he may as well not bother turning up again this season.

Dzeko too was an absolute disaster in possession in the final third today, whilst Im mystified why Nasri was withdrawn and Navas put on at that stage it occurred. Unless there was an injury that sub was lost on me.

Too many big players went missing again today in the 2nd half - yes you Vincent, you Ya Ya and you Mr Fernandinho. Unfortunately, though we should have been 3 or more up at the break, because we were so utterly wasteful with the ball in the 1st half we had no security blanket of a hefty lead to fall back on, when the current City away capitulation occured.

A gold plated "typical City" performance today, and as the manager and players dont seem to be able to learn from them, Id expect more away from home. Top 4 and a domestic Cup can be realistic ambitions this season, but a title challenge? No chance.

Stayed away since the result, fuming with what happened.

I don't blame the boss, I don't even blame the players or officials. I blame myself for thinking we would win this comfortably.

It seems to me that we all thought we had this game won at half time and went in to the second half trying to play in an easy manner. Fair play to Villa, they took their chances and no matter how much of shambles we may have been they put them away.

The whole team and coaching staff need to remember that each team will present us dangers and we need to fucking react to them both mentally and physically. Go for the jugular every game with conviction. Don't keep trying to walk the ball in the net.

Do you know that they had 4 shots on target and scored 3 goals! Total shots was double, just 8.

In respect, we had a huge 21 shots with a third on target and 2 goals. That's usually a winning margin especially when you think we had the majority of possession, about twice as much.

Ridiculous.

Statistics show that in the defeats to Cardiff and Aaston Villa we have conceded 6 goals from just 10 shots on target.

Hart is partly or fully responsible for at least 4 goals.

Need to sort out this pathetic away form. Played 3 won none. We're lucky most the other top teams have dropped points, but we will soon be at the stage where we can't afford to lose any more games.
Their first goal was offside but the defending leading up to it was piss.
3rd goal was a joke. We were in total disarray.
We did enough to win that game twice. Need to be more clinical and cut out the poor defensive decisions.

That's scary, I'm not sure about the Hart contribution.

Dont want to beat a dead donkey but...dzeko deserved to come off at half time. Other than the goal (basically a lucky deflection off his shoulder), he was awful. Even when negredo isn't scoring, he is linking play, creating chances and making good runs to occupy space. Dzeko did none of those things today. I would love to know our record over the last 2 seasons when Dzeko starts...

He attacks the ball with the intention of making contact and scoring - he makes contact and scores, but he gets no credit. I see something wrong with your train of thought.

Your just seeing what you want to see. All those things were true of Negredo in the derby. Today that's a complete load of bullshit. He was gash and we played with 10 men the whole game. His only impact on today game was a shot that hit a villa defender.

Dzeko scored and was involved in everything (good and bad) Negredo was invisible. FACT.

He had a bigger influence in the derby, that's true. The pairing with Dzeko doesn't work. But even so, I thought negredo was much better than Dzeko, who pissed away chance after chance in the first half. I'd still love to know our record when Dzeko starts..probably not great.

Fair point. He made contact, which is more than I can usually say about his aerial challenges.

I find the whole Dzeko hate just so weird. Guy has played 112 games for us and scored 45 goals for us. He is rarely given full 90 minutes so his goals per minute ratio has to be one of the best if not THE best in the league. He is not an eye candy but getsnthe job done in regular basis. Yet lot of people are hell bent on slagging off him consistently.

He was playing centerforward yesterday and Negredo was ordered to drift off him. Job which Negredo did poorly yesterday. Dzeko's job was to put them away which he managed to do. Yet he still somehow manages to slagged off even if he left the pitch when we were comfortably in lead and managed to fuck the whole thing up. Mind boggles.

It's funny by the way, lot of the people I know who are legit football people but outsiders are praising him and scared of him when we play against their team because, you know, he is dangerous every time he touches the ball even if he makes some funny looking mistakes.

This is even weirder for Club whose supporters hold Goater in such high esteem. Dzeko is basically top class Goater.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It's only a freak result if it happens once every blue moon. We've seen two in the first six games and we've only played three away games. Nothing freakish about our away form mate :(
