if that's about the goal, then yes he got away with it. As for the player, he's a greedy bastard and was turned by the lure of big money from Chelsea - if I remember right these were Frank days when any source of money seemed frozen awaiting some great thaw which never came. Plus he was never worth what his associates said he was worth paying at that stage in his development.maxxi wrote:The one that get away!

Any FACTS to back up those statements mate?
Remember how Leslie blatantly and persistantly kept giving game time to the much inferior, now imprisoned Ched Evans while Studge got splinters on the bench? He must have thought why da fuck should I stay here!
Who were his associates and how much were they saying he was worth paying?
There's been a lot of shite slung at Studge since he left. Some MAYBE justified but he's never slagged City since he left, unlike some other utter cunts not worth mentioning. Am I correct in saying that he refused to celebrate scoring against us?
If anyone has definitive facts then let's open them up on here. Otherwise don't slag a lad off who was one of our own eh..............

Well both Sturridge and Evans made the same number of appearances for the first team in Hughes' season.
From memory; Sturridge looked great when coming on as a sub but struggled when he started, probably due to age, experience, strength etc. He refused to sign a new contract and then agreed to join Chelsea, mentioning better first team opportunities despite them having Drogba, Anelka and Gudjonsen at the time, whilst we had Evans, Jo, Bojinov etc.
He was a City player, he chose to leave. He wasn't sold, he didn't want to stay. Feel free to give him a cheer though, if you want.
Burt wrote:And yes he was sold. The clue there is that we got a fee for him after tribunal. The £60k per week he is rumoured to have asked for looks like fuckin chicken feed now doesn't it!
Burt wrote: Well Studge should have played twice the games that Evans did and since you mention it, how many times did Evans start a game in comparison to Studge? Why would he want to stay after being made to play 2nd fiddle to one of Leslie's tafia bum boys? And yes he was sold. The clue there is that we got a fee for him after tribunal. As I said earlier and others have supported, he has never dissed us and showed humility when he scored against us. I aint knocking a lad like that.

As I pointed out, he looked poor in games he started. Evans looked much more capable of starting a game, probably as he was bigger. Sturridge seemed to tire more quickly than the defenders, but looked dangerous when he came off the bench due to his pace. He wasn't ready to start at that age and wasn't the season after at Chelsea. It wasn't until last season that he really came on as a striker, so why was he worth more than £45k a week?
Ireland looked a much better player, so how much should we have paid him?
And a BiB pointed out, we didn't sell him, otherwise there would have been no need for a tribunal. He left on a Bosman but was under 24, so we were entitled to compensation. But there was nothing we could do if he wanted to leave, which he did.
