Lost to the best side in Europe.

Absolutely no chance of winning it so concentrate on what is important and that my friends could be the real problem!

Agreed best side by a mile would have beaten any premier league side the same.

I'm not sure you can say that with 100% certainty. Had a decent team set up with 5 in the middle of the pitch to negate them then who knows. We did make it very easy for them. Don't forget Arsenal beat them on their own pitch as recently as last season.

You have a point but that bayern side with that coach are far superior to anything in the premier league.

When it comes to bayern Munich it is sometimes irrelevant which team they are facing. I've read your posts during the evening and I know that your furious but sometimes that's the way it is.

I'd say furious weren't the words. Bayern are a great team who I have the upmost respect for but come on, the team we put out, if marshalled, should've competed.

I don't get embarrassed at what we do but that was the worst display, in respect, that I have ever seen. Pellers looked embarrassed to put that out in the manner we did but seemed more embarrasses about not being able to change it. How does that work?

Diabolical display and it's amazing people can explain it away as being down to a player or two.

Totally outclassed today. At one point the stats were similar to that of Celtic Barcelona and Celtic put up a better fight.

I can only assume that zabs was carrying a knock (I've not heard yet) because throwing a player in who has been out for months and only played against Wigan is less than naive... That's not even considering we were playing the current European champions.

We have seen even club make mistakes in the transfer market and I believe fernandinho to be one of them. Whilst he hasn't had time etc I've said from day one if this guy was world class he wouldn't have spent until he was 28 in Ukraine.

We face a very difficult task on Saturday. For me negrado and silva need to start against Everton. We only looked to compete when silva was there to pass the ball quickly 1 for the first time we were probing ( again this is easier when you are three nil down)

The reason Fernandino is not looking world class is that we are not playing him to his best advantage... that's all, simple as that.

Tonight was all about setting up wrong against an improving Bayern that press and dominate the midfield.

442 was completely wrong, Dzeko we all knew would not be in the game in that situation, Aguero should have been an advanced Mid and Yaya is of practically no use if we do not have the ball. He cannot chase.
But as we sent our only player on loan who could do a covering job while Silva played instead of Yaya, we had no answer. Fernandino is not the answer as he isn't a DM.
City have created their own problem and it won't be sorted till they get the pressing system drilled in. We saw it briefly just before Bayern scored. It will take a good 2/3 of the season to get that system working.. until then City will have a serious vunerability that can be exploited.

Outplayed, out thought, outclassed in every aspect.

Bayern looked about 5 years ahead of us tbh. We were extremely lucky we got away with a 1-3.

Mr Pellegrini, Im not impressed at all. Zabaleta's omission, when facing Ribery as well, was bizarre. It was also plainly obvious 20 minutes in that we needed 5 in midfield to get a foothold in the game as we had barely a touch by that point and could have been 3 down; it was crying out for Silva or even Milner on, and Dzeko off and required someone with balls to make the necessary move. Instead we made that sub when the game was gone at 3-0.

Ive heard Pellegrini say the team is picked on merit and not reputation. Given that Hart's confidence is on the floor, he's punching balls he should catch and any shot on target is likely to go in at the moment, its time he was sat down Im afraid. Enough is enough.

i agree,we can all handle defeat, especially against the European Champions, but that was a total no show,no contest. Was not expecting to be so out classed and out played.

To ignore out failings for a while, Bayern were excellent. I don't think I've ever seen three opposition subs applauded off the pitch before.

The one I was really impressed with was Muller. He pulled Kompany and Nasti all over the pitch and created the spaces which Ribery and Robben exploited. A brilliant example of how to play when you're the one up front. Not that he was ever on his own up there...

Losing against currently the best side in the world is no disgrace but it would have been nice not to be so totally outclassed. The key , and Pellegrini said it after the game, is that we learn from this and get better. Qualifying from the group is down to the points we get from Moscow not against Bayern so lets just get in right against them. ( and Everton,Norwich,Chelsea and West Ham)

Assuming Plzen lose all their games, then Moscow will be crucial. My concern is their last game is Munich at home and, as we saw a couple of years ago, they're likely to play a reserve team. That means we have to get 4 points off Moscow, which means much better performances are required.

But I'm more worried about the Everton game at the moment. Martinez looks like the sort of manager who'll know exactly what to do to beat us and has a side who look capable of doing it.

just got to watch this. dreadful 80 minutes.

Aguero never should've started this match. absolutely naivety from Pellegrini on that front.
he's played Guardiola 9 times now..does he not understand that you need a midfield of 5 not 2 strikers?
Aguero literally contributed nothing the entire match, forward or backwards. Our midfield is in dire straits.
We needed a Barry type player to play in the middle. We only have Fernandinho and Yaya.

Bayern are definitely better and the 3-1 scoreline is actually what i predicted (go ahead, tear into me) but
we shouldnt have gotten embarrassed this badly. our passing, especially in the final third, was atrocious...Bayern's pressing
was great though too.

tbf, we actually defended well in the first half. aside from Joe's all-too-typical blunder.
Clichy was very poor on the Muller goal, he played him onside, ran alongside him and then stopped and turned around.

legit question, have we even beaten a good squad this season yet?

I don't want to start any conspiracy theories, but did you hear how respectful Guardiola was about us afterwards? Maybe it's how he's been brought up (plus he has a relationship with our two backroom Spaniards) but it's worth noting he and Pellegrini are on exactly the same (fairly short term) contract length.

That thought makes a little bit of sex wee come out. He's taken the European champions and made them better. I was watching him waving them on every time we got the ball last night, forcing the defence to the half way line, squeezing us into our own half for the three seconds before we gave them the ball back. I'll be amazed if they're not the first side to retain the Champions League.

Totally agree that we shouldn't have played with two up front and I couldn't believe he didn't change it at half time. But out of the front two, it was Aguero you think shouldn't have played?!?

Regarding beating a good team this season, the rags are the closest we've come to playing one so far and they'll be struggling for top 4 and would be destroyed by a decent European team. But Bayern would have beaten any PL team last night. In fact, they'd have beaten a PL 11 side.

If Bayern is the only decent side we've played so far, then we can hardly be criticised for not beating decent sides. I'm more concerned about our struggles against average sides.
