League wise we are where we were, amazing at times and dropping points for no decent reason. Shit teams giving 10% is not going to wash, away form sorted we walk the league.

This whole "money doesn't make you successful" line is quite remarkable.
We have been talking about the closed shop, the Sky cartel, the G14 clubs and the way the money at the top of the game makes it all but impossible for others to breakthrough, for years now. We absolutely know money buys you success. We wouldn't be here now without barrow loads of cash. We've learned of the connection , not of transfer fees paid, but with the wage bill more or less dictating the level of success achieved. And yet now there are some denying that? Hypocrisy of the highest order.
We pay a ton of cash for our players, it should guarantee us success. Some of us want entertainment too. Mancini probably under achieved with the money he spent. And bored us shitless in the process.

Of course money doesn't guarantee success. If it did Real Madrid would just win everything on offer. Money gives you the ability to be able to compete for trophies.

I hate to break it to you, but I never said they weren't.

My point which you're conveniently ignoring is that them outspending most doesn't guarantee them pots, it guarantees them the ability to compete for them.

You said it doesn't buy success; it does, just not neccessarily every season.

We will win the league again, but whether it's this season, we can't yet judge.

However, some seasons are there for the taking. Last season most definitely was, but this season all of the contenders & some usual non contenders, are much stronger squad wise, except for the rags, who have remained the same.

The top 3 have all changed managers, which gives Wenger a short term advantage (which he will probably squander) & Villas Boas to some extent (which he WILL squander). Mourinho then has the advantage over Moyes & the Count, as he has done it before.

But all will only be there because of money. Arsenal will probably be closer than in the past because they have recently started spending again.

Same thing; it does. Real Madrid (the example you gave) are guaranteed success, because they keep spending, they are successful.

We will be successful if we keep spending. As will Chelsea, Arsenal, Utd etc. Those who stop will be less successful.

Ted,
I think it depends on how you define success mate. Money will certainly take you to certain level, beyond that, other factors play their part.

What Piccs does and has done for quite a while is argue it as a definite and thus defines any lack of success as failure, totally ignoring any other factors.

I define it by the level of competition. Finishing well behind Pep's Barca is understandable. Finishing well behind that shower of rag shite is an utter failure. Now there are 5 teams who have spent big, they should all be title contenders each season. Those who aren't have failed. If they all continue to spend, they should all win titles.

Btw, tell Piccs, Petrov has been turning out for Torpedo Chorlton if he wants his autograph, or just to talk about old times.

Goes to show football knowledge of your average rag.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I know this is a little late but how the hell can you say it bored you to death in the process?

Do you not remember the excitement of getting into the CL, what about the Wembley trip to beat the Rags, the Sick-Swan or all those other games where we spanked teams? There was some downers but how anybody could say that thee Premier League winning season 'Bored them to Death' is quite ridiculous. It was one of the best seasons of my life, the ups and downs, the dramas that went on along the way, it was an amazing season.

If being 'Bored to Death' is how you saw it then I'm not going to argue but that season left me exhausted with the pure drama that went with it. If you missed it, then more fool you.

In fairness pics, beefy is right. Mancini had boring and baffling moments, but in no way can his time here be generalised as boring.

Wahey Piccs Mate....you must be fuckin buzzin at the moment then mate...

This season, another near £100M spent...MONEY = GUARANTEED SUCCESS.,.and we're absolutely running away with.....6th place???? Pal....If only we'd spent as much as Hull or Everton or even Arsenal.....Fuck, we did...

...and how fuckin thrilled you must be to be able to see the mighty Blues attack, attack, attack (and even more attack) our way to defeat at Cardiff.....and Villa....and rip the mighty Hull to shreds.

How fuckin refreshing and exhilarating to watch City being overrun in midfield by Bayern. No worries for you about all this boring defending...much more fun not to have any defending at all....and thank fuck we had a plan B to turn it all around. Just a pity that it took till the 70th minute after Bayern had already won the game and removed their star players.

Shall I write it for you.....Pellergrini out....Surely you've given him long enough by now.

In England, successful teams are built from the back. You might not have to do that to be successful in Spain but you do in England and top Spanish teams have been very vulnerable to teams that are built that way in yje Champions League in recent seasons. Have we any evidence at all that MP can build a team that way? It is a genuine question by the way, I have not followed his career and have had little interest in watching La Liga.

I don't think that's fair either john.

When mancini was trying to change our style we had very similar results at one stage.

Fair or not. few days later I still strugle to understand why we did not change the tactics, MP had to have had it in his mind a change might be needed, Lahm in MF was for me anyway the red flag of the ball was going to be hard to get back from them. No surprises. Mancini was stubborn Pelli was naive.

Well that's the point I was trying to make.

Hazy, I already blamed the manager for not changing it, but I was quoting john and he was giving an overall picture on the manager, not just the bayern game.

It's a mish mash so far and anyone who claims we either found the messiah or we have a clown in charge is obviously the type of lad who blows a load when a lady waves.
