Spanish side sports Broccoli-inspired kits. Yes, broccoli.
We’ve discovered Spanish third tier club La Hoya Lorca’s new kits for the 2013/14 season, and don’t you know it, their away shirts might actually be even more hideous than Liverpool’s.
Yes, the kit is a tribute to every child’s least-favorite vegetable.
Not sure how well these new kits are going to sell, but at least the locals have already made the most out of it. Fans have already begun referring to the club as El Brocoli Mecanico, or in English, The Clockwork Broccoli. Brilliant!
There is method behind this madness, too. La Hoya Lorca are based in Murcia, which is known as “the vegetable garden of Spain.” Broccoli happens to be one of the region’s biggest and fastest growing exports, so last year the club released its first cabbage-inspired kit. And guess what? That season, the club went on to earn promotion to the third tier of Spanish soccer, inspiring them to wear the lucky broccoli shirts again this year.
