Two things:

1. His concentration was really fantastic in the seasons of 10-11 and 11-12. In our league winning campaign he got praise on several occassions for having proven that he could take the step to be a goalkeeper that had little or nothing to do but that could still whip out a fantastic save when it was needed. Why do you think that he's lost that ability?

2. Could it also be that people are sussing him out? That they are learning where his weaknesses are and are more determined and able to expolit them than they were before? In other words, Hart hasn't necessarily gone that much worse but our oppoonents are on to something that they weren't before. This could perhaps also be linked to our general defensive frailties over the last season or so: our opponents get the chance to test Hart's weaknesses to a greater extent than before because our defense isn't doing the same solid job it did in for example 11-12.

Also, he's dona a commercial for schampoo. His shit. I hate him. Boo hoo.

1. If I could put my finger on it I'd be sending my résumé in. We can all have our theories as to what's going on, but only Joe really knows.

2. No. It's not the same clanger every game. The only weakness he has is his distribution and oppositions are definitely cutting off his short options. But apart from going one handed on wide dives he's pretty competent.

Not a howler by any means today but still feel Joe at his best would easily save that.

I agree entirely, I'm not one to bash Joe but been getting more and more frustrated with him. Hope he pulls it together as I'm gonna get lynched by the Hart fan club who sit around me

As has been mentioned already, if Hart should have saved the first, so should of Howard.

Ah, cool, so as long as Joe meets the standard set by Howard when Howard has a bad day then that makes him good enough to hold down his place in Manchester City's first 11? ;-)

I thought that Joe's howler wasn't a missed save, if you look at the angle of the shot you'll see that it was going wide of the far post but when Joe goes down he fails to stop it and fails to hold it, he just flaps at it and alters it's course sufficiently as it goes under him to divert it into his own net (doh!) whereas Howard took on a point blank, that was always going in, and diverted it but couldn't divert it enough to keep it out.

And I'm not knocking Joe either because I'm also very pleased to say that he had one of his best games this season, he didn't have much to do but he did most of it competently. However, the 'most of" didn't include his own comedy goal and it didn't include his trademark slow and wildly inaccurate distribution. Definitely better than I've seen him in a while though and his hair was a stand out attribute throughout.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Look at the third replay. How do you figure this was going wide?

Bit harsh. Howard was about 90 yards away.

Haha why are people even comparing Howard and hart? Oap captain tourettes vs 26 year old apparent world number one? I think if joe let in Howard's first goal you'd want his hart on a plate.

FiBJ, I've had a look and I think there's a bit of optical illusion going on because replay 1 suggests it going wide, replay 2 shows it clearly going wide and replay 3 makes it look like it's going to sneak inside the far post before Joe heroically snatches at it, misses proper contact and manages to divert it into the centre of his goal.
As I'm always saying, I like Joe myself and I can appreciate you sticking up for him so let's settle on your preferred version where the ball was going to sneak inside the post before Joe makes sure that it's a goal by diverting it into his net dead centre.

I think the main point is that Joe was perfectly placed to save it but managed to bungle it into the middle of his net. In general I think he had a good game, by his recent standards, but he didn't command his defenders to any great degree, his distribution was as poor as it ever was and one of his main areas of abject weakness (dealing with crosses and corners) was hardly exploited by a not brilliant everton.

Oh, and his hair was beautiful.

You're well out of order there tall fella. . . jog 3 times around the playing field as your penance for getting needlessly bitchy.
There's nothing I've said that isn't honest opinion and I've not resorted to any name calling nonsense so there's no excuse for you to step in with the Billy big bollocks crap and wildly inaccurate accusations. Hang ye head in shame.

I thought his distribution was a lot better than in recent weeks - got quite a few of his kicks from his hands to the intended target out on the wing - I do agree that this an area he needs to develop.

A few games back he threw one long instead of kicking and it went straight to the intended person to set up a decent counter attack. If his kicking is going to remain so crap maybe he should focus on long throws if he is more accurate.

I've never confessed to being a pot-head because I've never been a pot-head. I'm not saying that a Jazz cigarette was never passed my way at a party in my youth but if it ever happened then I always passed them on quickly and, much like President Clinton, I didn't inhale!
