Sunderlands New Manager

BBC reporting that Gus Poyet is soon to be unveiled as the new BlackCats manager. I liked him as a player and kept an eye on him when he got into coaching. I quite liked him and seen him as the force behind Leeds before being done over by Wise who jumped ship to go back to Chelsea. He then moved over to Spurs and won the LC as assistant manager before taking over at Brighton, taking them up from League 1, topping it off with a play-off place in the Championship last season. God knows what happened then but it seems he was blamed for the 'Shit-gate' incident, or at least, putting himself above the club by calling all the employees out.

I think he's a good manager who is tactically adept and could prove himself with an half decent team like Sunderland. Pity it'll give him time to get his thoughts across before we play them though, they really are a jammy bogey team for us.

He is superstitious. Apparently he has to touch cloth before he comes out of the tunnel.

Didn't he get slagged off by one of his Swindon players recently for the way he'd behaved behind the scenes. The quote sounded like it was someone talking about di Canio, so it should be interesting when he turns up - either the owner backs the players again and he'll be gone before Easter or they back him and Gordon Taylor will be involved by Xmas.

If it was an ex-Swindon player, I'd hazard a guess they were talking about di Canio rather than Poyet...

He was assistant manager at Swindon previously, but it was Brighton winger Vicente: "what's unacceptable is that the manager makes fun of players. I've seen things here that I've never seen in my career".

This could be fun. Let's hope they've rebelled again by the time we play them.

The only minor controversy with Poyet was that once the 'Poo-gate' incident came to light, he sent an e-mail around to all employees, firstly expressing his anger to what had happened but then continued to have a go at those who decided to hand out some sort of 'Noise Paper' and balloons at the semi-final playoff against Palace, which they lost.

Not really great to slag those who pay your wage but would you keep quiet if you thought those incidents had an impact on your chance to take a club into the Prem?

I work with a lot of Geordies. Sunderland's antics are the only thing keeping them sane at the moment. They are hoping for the toilet version of Poyet, but gutted at losing the chance of a radio phone in featuring 'JFK' Kinear and mad dog Di Canio.

Sunderland could appoint John Sitton for all I care, and even if they did they would still beat us at The Stadium of Light.

Who really gives a toss who Sunderland appoint. They are getting relegated this season so our annual 1-0 undeserved defeat at the stadium of light will end. That said I have a soft spot for their fans. I remember when we beat them 3-2 last game of 90/91 to finish above rags which relegated them. Must have been 10000 Mackems there making a shit load of noise before during & after the game which you could actually hear the other side of Platt Lane fields. Also the roar when Gabbiadini equalised was the loudest i've ever heard for an away side
