I think most will assume that mate. John just likes to state the obvious ;-)

Obviously.

...and I categorically deny doing anything intimate with Gillie. We are only friends...obviously.

Love ya man x

In return for such a high pressure job, they are paid around £70k a year. Or less than a third what Shrek, RVP, Yaya etc earn per week.

Seems an odd mix and you'd think it'd put them at risk of falling for betting syndicates who can offer them big money for an odd decision. You'd hope someone is checking up on them to make sure they all stay honest, as we've seen in Europe and in other sports that people can be easily corrupted.

Same goes for players - when Walters scored two own goals and missed a penalty in the same game last season, did anyone investigate it? I'm sure it was just one of those days, but are the authorities asleep at the wheel?

I'm sure there is dodgy stuff going on throughout the leagues but when an establishment (I use that word losely) has to give one of their employees a 50 grand pay-off then you know they've got something to hide.

I presume it's to stop them saying something for a set period which is reasonable - last thing you want is one of them releasing a book the year they retire saying that a current player said something racist the previous season, for example, but they chose to ignore it. Or that they made a complete gaff in a game which resulted in a team being relegated.

Most businesses would have something similar for senior employees, albeit less people would care.

I don't think Poll's comments have helped the refs, if anything they've done more damage than anything Halsey has said. But Poll always liked to be the centre of attention, so no surprise.

Halsey refused the payoff in order to right his memoires. I don't for one second think it's to do with what is, or is not said on the pitch but more to keep what is said behind closed doors within the confines of the individuals involved.

Halsey clearly states that the messages being passed even have the senior officials wondering what is happening so how the hell are the more junior ones supposed to get by, no wonder they are all over the place with their decisions. And when you think about it, why are the ref's being told how to referee individual games and where is the validation when Mike Riley himself decides to turn up to a Rag game to mark the referee?

Riley was one of the biggest twats who seemed to always favour the Rags and had a tendancy to have you scratching your head at his decisions. It made me think he'd been given orders and that's probably why he was appointed as head of the PGMOL back in 2009, after a season of controversial decisions. Why give somebody the top job if that person was widely regarded as not being up to his day job?

It stinks from top to bottom.
