20,000+ poles at wembley

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Either way, it should make for a decent atmosphere.

Are England the only UK team that can make the finals now?

If England cant beat the Poles tonight, it certainly wont be because there are 20k Polish fans inside Wembley - it will simply be because they aren't good enough.

England should win this game, though to make such hard work of what is a featherweight of a group, again highlights where we are in world football; a bang average team that will be lucky to get out of its group in Brazil (if we qualify), and that's it. As usual the first decent team we meet will knock us out, despite what The Sun, and Daily Mirror will have you believe - especially as they keep labelling Rooney as "world class" - this is man who did nothing at the 2006 WC, nothing at the 2010 WC, and zilch at the 2012 Euros.

One final hope is that some of the tickets the Polish fans have got have replaced the bloody awful England band, who need their instruments shoved where the sun doesn't shine.

but it is a sell out? they made the decision last week to give the poles extra allocation. Even if we didnt allocate the extra tickets to the poles we would still have had a minimum 80k fans there and more than likely a full house by today with a few left floating around.

We rarely fill the place, here are the last couple of year at wembley

Brazil 87k
San Marino 86k
ROI 80k
ukraine 68k
Moldova was 61k
Scotland 80k
Montenegro 83k

Montenegro was just under 84k.
How many of those games listed were the final group game of qualification with everything still to play for by the way?

Nice article, I particularly liked the following paragraph:

"An FA spokesman said the decision had been taken in August to put 9,000 extra tickets on sale to Polish fans living in the UK after the FA's intelligence suggested that otherwise there would be large pockets of away support among the England fans."

Did you expect him to say "purely for greed".

England have a membership card system. It would have been easy to issue to tickets to only England fans. Sure a few poles may have snuck in but hardly a security risk. There were plenty of Scots in the England end and there was hardly any trouble.

Look, what Ross is saying is that:

Scotland is/Scottish fans are ace.
England is/English fans are dogshit.

He's been making the point for years so you should all have got it through your thick skulls by now.

Any mention of England on this site and he's all over the offending thread like chickenpox.

Those Scottish fans were a disgrace. The England fans were quiet when their dog shit anthem was playing, but when god save the queen came on which is also theirs btw, they were all booing.

You may or may not be right on that one Breks but Ross is right about the 'can't fill the stadium' issue.
Were our TV screens full of shots of 9000 furious England supporters who had been denied tickets because their allocation had been sold to the Poles tonight? No. No because every England fan who wanted to go got a ticket, the Poles got a double allocation (+ a fair number amongst the England fans) and the place still isn't full.
Most England fans are like me and you, they prefer to watch a midweek game on free-to-view TV and from the comfort of home than to traipse down to London to watch a disjointed England side either thrash a very poor Poland side in a shit game or, more embarrassingly, watch a disjointed England side let a shit Poland side fuck them about in a shit game . . .
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

That's because as far as the FA is concerned, England means London. If one of the games had been in Manchester, I'd have gone. I wouldn't go to Wembley of they were playing Spain or Brazil.
