Target - Top 5 in world for revenue......

Postby sweenyuk » Wed Oct 16, 2013 8:45 am

MANCHESTER City FC is closing-in on becoming one of the top five clubs in the world by revenues, according to key executive Tom Glick.

Tom Glick, the club's chief commercial and operating officer, told guests at a reception at the Etihad Stadium co-hosted with theProfileClub and main sponsor Etihad, that as a result of the continuing investment in the club and recent commercial success, Manchester would be "the epicentre of football worldwide" over the next 10 years.

He said his team had been "quietly going about out business" in winning new commercial deals, declaring: "Next year Manchester will have two of the top five clubs in terms of worldwide revenues, we're catching up with Bayern Munich (which according to the latest Deloitte Money League lies in fourth place behind Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United).

"We are very excited about the direction of the club," he said.

The US-born executive, who was lured from Derby County in 2011, outlined the major investments the club is making, such as the proposals to expand the stadium from 48,000 to more than 60,000, the new £150m academy facility and training base next to the stadium and the recent upgrades to facilities in the ground.

The challenge he said was to continue to be "Manchester's club and a community club", as well as to woo new fans and commercial partners internationally.

"We have to be affordable for our fans, and that is why we have invested heavily in all aspects of the matchday experience, from the concourse to the new and unique Chairman's Club, why we are working with new partners such as LG Electronics to upgrade the AV facilites in the ground and the big screens in the stadium.

"We are forunate to have amazing owners who challenge us all the time, and to have a visionary chief executive, who pushes us to think big."

He said the club's international status was ever-increasing: "Over the summer we played nine games in four continents and we were astounded by the number of fans and interest in our club."

The launch of the new Major League Soccer club in partnership with the New York Yankees, to be called New York City, was another important strand in the international mix, Mr Glick said.

While I kinda agree I also think it's better to be on the inside looking out rather than the other way round. Sport and commercialisation are unfortunate bedfellows and while the end result is to provide a better 'experience' that does come at a cost, as we know. Although the club has to be applauded for the proposed £299 SC's, we'll see if everyone else has to cover that price?

Yep - all good news and confirms that Khaldoon seems to be an excellent leader on behalf of the Sheik and also importantly that he is still very active - I was concerned that he would get dragged into another important project for the Sheik and be not able to give enough - but seemingly not the case.

All seems to be going well and if we can become established amongst the top few then we have more chance of 'becoming acceptable' when the decisions on the ESL are taken as through more sponsorship we will grow our visibility. It is interesting that they have a 10 year view - great news.

Funny how you admit to our clubs position of strength when the people in charge state what has been happening and noted by people who only see what is reported.

you have utterly lost it............ and I am now thinking of another couple of categories..

I am a lifelong CITY fan and I live and breathe the club and therefore treasure every bit of good news - I am also very consistent (IMO)

You are obviously making reference to the ESL thread where you have come across as an ignorant fucker (IMO) and suggesting that I am being inconsistent?

The points in my post above are (as you clearly need them spelled out):

1/ Khaldoon seems to be an excellent leader on our behalf ...................... My admiration of Khaldoon which being a CITY fan makes be so happy

2/ All seems to be going well and if we can become established amongst the top few then we have more chance of 'becoming acceptable' when the decisions on the ESL ........................ A further reference to my concerns expressed in the ESL thread that we need to become more acceptable with those that decide when the ESL make-up is determined - and (as also expressed) hopefully we have some years to make this happen

I have witnessed quite a few on her consider you a dick (or worse - a rag) but have chosen to assume that you are just a thick cunt - maybe they were right

He's clearly got some kind of mental disorder. Perhaps if we all start ignoring his posts he will fuck off. Wishful thinking on my part perhaps but we can all dream...

But it is great news for the club, and it is evidence we are heading in the right direction.....which was the whole point the geezer was making in the other thread.

Just having revenue is good for our own purposes, and this news shows to me that we are working hard to have partners in areas that other clubs are not currently exploiting, hence our increase in revenues.

Having Rola Cola as our drinks affiliate in Thailand, Cunty Cola as our drinks affiliate in the Sudan etc, some obscure betting company as our gambling partner in x country, are minor deals in the big scheme of things, but it seems that we are signing a fucking lot of them. We could arguably have a Different gambling partner in every region in the world, and would probably drag much more income by regionalising our commercial deals, than the old approach of having a single global partner for gambling for example.

This news doesnt mean we are box office right now.....it means that we probably will be in the future, (with the proviso of sustained domestic and European success) and all of these affiliates want on board now.

RH - I know that this is unlikely to make you think or take stock - and also highly unlikely to get you to consider your behaviour, but lessons that we learn from so many situations in life, are probably also valid even on an fans forum, such as these 2 examples....

1/ Recognise that your true value and that of your contributions is as it is regarded by others and not yourself....

2/ If you find yourself in so many situations where conflict occurs with others - look in a mirror, ask yourself who is the common denominator

Then either a) moderate your behaviour - if you are a normally balanced individual who would wish to be viewed as someone that can add some value or b) LOL and pat yourself on the back if you are just some shallow wind up cunt

It has to come out eventually that this cunt is a rag. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Openly admitting regularly that he is here to try to wind up proper city fans.
Very close to illiterate.
Has "rag" in his name.
Is the type of cunt most people would only stop slapping because their hand got sore.

Definitely a rag. As someone said, he'd probably eventually fuck off if everyone ignored him, but it's always difficult to ignore the village idiot jumping up and down with no trousers on and this lad is "virtually" the same.
