Yep, that was class.
it was actually Didi Hamann-esque. You can only pull that off from years of having learned to do it...See Terry's clumsy chav foul on Jo as a comparitive reference point.
And i agree about Sylvinho..liked what i saw a lot. And no shit about the tackling...imagine that? he wasn't shy and had a few moves that if he'd have pulled off would have made an even bigger difference in the match. Let's not forget this guy was a starting and winning fullback vs. the Scum in the CL final. Sure Barca were injury struck, but FFS that's the kind of thing an opposition manager, even an alcoholic gum-chewing cunt of one, would look to expose in a heartbeat. Never happened.
cheers

Sylvinho played very well on Saturday, also considering how long he was on the sidelines. He has the great experience that comes from years in a wining top club like Barca, years he spent actually playing, for the most part, not on the bench like Bridge at Chelsea. I only have one doubt about him, which is his age. With that I mean, would he be able to cope with the frequent matches? English season has more, and more frequent, games than Spain or any other European country (well, if you reach the latter stages of both Carling Cup and FA Cup, at least) and his old age makes me think he might not have such a good stamina to endure it as a regular starter. The run of games he will have while Bridge is out might give me an answer on that.

Sylvinho had a decent game alright, but I didn't think it was as good a performance as Bridge had against the best team in the country last week.
Bridge has been getting better and better and its a shame he's out for a while, but going by Saturday's performance, I'm not scared of giving Syl a run over xmas.

Someone could look at it this way: Sylvinho has played 1 match in which he made a mistake which led to conceding a goal.
What if he plays well in the next match as well but fucks up again and again is at fault for one goal? How long are you willing to give time for Syl to get it right?
Hopefully he wont and it was the only one. And anyway I don't really blame him even for the 1st.. There shouldn't have been a goal allowed in any case.

Well he fucked up 11 mins into his 1st game in 6 months, then was great thereafter.
says enough for me. If he fucked up every game then I'd ask for him to be removed too. We have no room in our side for fuck ups.

It's only a few months ago that he was directly up against the ladyboy in the chumps league final and he never gave him a look in so I don't think that he would be mithered about facing Lennon if he's called upon to do so.

Lets wait and see shall we! I was impressed with bridges last few games. Hes also great going forward. No need to over hype the rusty silvy when bridge is gonna be nowhere near the team sheet for at least 8 games.

See the way I see it as good as he looked that game we still got 3 goals scored against us against Bolton a team struggling at the bottom of the prem. I'm not saying if Bridge was their we might have had less scored against us but I just got the feeling that we did miss Bridge at weekend.

I know, I didnt see the game, but I heard silvinho and richards ''had excellent games''. So I was just thinking 'fucking hell, how bad must have toure, lescott and kompany been?!'.

These two were actually very, very poor. Kompany more than Lescott, imho, but the latter could really have done better in Bolton's third goal, Klasnic murdered him on that loose ball in the box.

I found myself repeatedly saying to my mate '...really impressed with Sylvinio...' and talking in the bar at half time that was the consensus amongst everybody I heard

Played well for me against Notlob but obviously Wayne is faster and brighter than him!

Plus the tackle he put it leading up to the brilliant second goal of ours. That was mensch stuff.
He's well a class above Bridge. Its so easy to see.
I agree. Also, Sylvinho is no slouch. He may be 35 but some people seem to think that makes him slow as fuck. I bet he could give Bridge a run for his money in a 100 meter sprint.

Class act.
The professional foul showed how canny he is too.
I'm as pleased for him as I am gutted for Bridge, who seemed to be growing as a blue game by game, after a dodgy start that lasted too long. Better than Bridge? Technically yes, 5 years ago by a million miles. He's getting on a bit but Silvinho is a great buy for just this situation, and when Bridge is fit Silvinho's form should dictate whether Bridge gets back in. Ideal scenario to have when all are fit.

sorry for turning it into a bit of a Bridge bash, but the main point of this is that He had a great game on saturday and I think he should be in front of Bridge in the lineup.
I agree with all but this... did you see the last minute of match he had both RSC and I believe Ireland as open targets in the box to pick out, and missed everyone by a longshot. But outside of that, I wish he was Bridge's age. Experience clearly means a lot, but he did more in this one game than I have seen in any game by Bridge. Can he be consistent is the question?

So basically Nick you are saying that the match you didn't see was the catalyst for all your shitty threads. Nice one. I'll remember to check in on your matchwatching status next time you go off on one.

Considering his age and his obvious lack of match fitness he did excellently. Passing very precise.
However at his age he shouldn't really be much more than a fill-in. But Bridgey is slow and dodgy defensively, however good his attacking.
Les will definitely be looking for a better LB at some point, the question is can he get one in January?
If not we will lose a few more points from Bridgey. Or, to go back to the OP, I would probably prefer Sly there if he can last the season! After all he did play in the CL final 6 months ago.
