Just came home from a "Night for Bert Trautmann" the day before his 90.th birthday here in Bremen.
In a social Club in the Weserstadion 70-80 People listend to Dr. Martin Rooney, Karl-Heinz Kamp and saw a film about the life of Bert.
Dr. Rooney, a Manchester Born and Bremen based University prof, did a good speach about Bert and his life as a young kid/man/soldier, a P.O.V. and how to became the Keeper of Manchester City.
Karl-Heinz Kamp, a former Werder Bremen Player, was a youth Player at Opel Rüsselheim, when Bert became the Manager of the Club. In a small Interview he talked about his memories, Bert as a Coach and his Kind of directing the Team. They once been put in a bus and been send on a Long distance run. Three Players got home but by taxi. When Bert noticed this, he said to the captain:" I won´t justice this, do it as a Team......."
The film was an 30 Min. german TV-Special from 2003, good one.
Good evening, and happy Birthday Bert!
