It was obvious before the game that the defence would be shite and it's proven to be that way. A centre back pairing of Garcia and Nastasic is simply not good enough. The goal was a shambles - Garcia's poor challenge to win the header and Nastasic not having a clue where his opponent was.

Lescott-Richards would be a better partnership until Kompany is back. I think I'd even prefer Boyata partnering Lescott until then. Then we can reform our title-winning partnership and make some attempt to build a sound defensive unit again.

Totally agree on that. Richards' pace would more than make up for slight deficiencies in that aspect and they actually appear to be really good friends off the pitch so i can imagine their chemistry together would be quite good too.

As Souness has just pointed out; our fullbacks are encouraged to go forward, thus often are not covering, but also the cbs are all over the shop, thus a recipe for disaster.

Even more of a worry for me is how utterly fucking clueless the backline is on almost every occasion, even when they are all back.

Strange that Mancini, a former football genius, seemed to have no inspiration for attacking ideas, & this bloke, a former centre back, seems to not know his arse from his elbow defensively.

Why we have a team full of world class players & these two at cb is beyond me though. Almost comical.

We'll have to get Levy on the phone and ask how to get it up to £300M.

I just cannot see how Nasti isn't tight on their striker but then Joe comes off his line to give the guy the only real chance he has of scoring with a gentle lob over his head.Great response though with a touch of good fortune as their center back messes up but Sergio finished it superbly. As he did from that delightful chip from Negredo. Just settle the game with the next goal and I can relax. Kolarov's playing well isn't he.

Zaba was way out of position and too far to the right. Had he been in line with nasty they wouldn't have scored.

Sourness had a good point about our full backs pushing up all the time. It does mean you need a solid centre back partnership and a defensive midfielder who can cover. We have neither. We're much better than them but unless we tighten up we need another goal or two. We might get them!

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

So Negredo gets a yellow for that, but this CSKA player walks away with nothing for an obvious dive?

Someone's playing silly buggers.
