If we win this one, it'll be 4 wins out of the last 5 on the road, with the one defeat being a positive performance at Chelsea. That, to me, would signify that we're getting over the "can't do it away" problem.

As for Pellegrini, I can't see how anyone would be anything other than satisfied - we're playing sumptuous, fast paced attacking football and scoring goals for fun, we're qualified for the CL last 16 with two games to spare, into the league cup QF all while keeping pace in the league.

If that's unsatisfactory, I'd love to see what constitutes satisfied.

I'm on the fence.

Attacking-wise we are fantastic. Our midfield and forwards are producing some incredible football to watch and we are scoring goals for fun. The partnership between Aguero and Negredo improves with every game and Silva, Nasri and Yaya are all playing some of their best football. Fernandinho seems to be settling well, and then we still have Milner, Navas and Rodwell to consider!

Defensively we are an absolute shambles. It annoys me that we've thrown away 3 years of hard work in getting our defence up to speed. If we can sort that, we could be a phenomenal team. But I fear we don't currently have the personnel - Kompany is injured a lot, Pellegrini doesn't like Lescott for whatever reason, Demichelis is a squad player at best, and Nastasic doesn't really have any defensive attributes at all. We need to invest in January, however, it was a fuck up not to do so last summer after getting rid of Toure and Barry.

It's a progressive poll and there is no reason to be dissatisfied at the way things are panning out. We play good football, it's entertaining and the only doubt remains with our defence. As we have seen a dramatic improvement in attacking flair and goals scored, I am hopeful that The Count will at some point turn his thoughts to our goals against and we should see some improvement there too.

We wait and see.

Just to confirm then ;) I haven't changed my opinion yet, as we still haven't been convincing away from home in the Prem against 'weaker' oppo. It looks like we are going the right direction I will give it that, but then we keep seeing a slip into the land of complacency or something. Against bigger teams we seem fine attitude wise, just defensive slips. Set up looks better too, but I want to see a couple of convincing away performances v lesser oppo before i am prepared to relax my stance.
It is no good going and ripping the rags a new one if a week later we go and get turned over by Cardiff, I want to see that has changed.

So if we can draw or beat Sunderland, our bogey team for the past couple of seasons, will that be enough to sway you?

No he will have another excuse. Probably that Sunderland are in such bad form that they just don't count.

We have actually just beaten West Ham, CSKA, & Newcastle away from home amongst 4 away games in a row. A reasonable test of that theory I would have thought.

Yes it is better, and I said that, but I just want to see it is 100% sorted rather than change my vote every week. Partly as well this stance of not being satisfied is down to my belief that dropping stupid points and being a shambles was of Pelli's making.
I'm not going to reiterate it all again now, read back if anyone wants a recap, but the transition should have been handled better and not put in jeopardy a title tilt with clearly the most talented squad in the league.
So for that Pellegrini, for me, has to show that he really has sorted out all those problems.
It looks like it, I just want to be sure.
Yaya is playing more intelligently for his role, Fernadinho is, perhaps as a result?, also able to give his best (know what to do basically), so we are pretty much over losing Barry, the attack is great apart from Navas (who has dropped confidence for some reason), the defence is still a fucking dogs dinner, that should have stayed as zonal and should not have been trying to hold a high line UNTIL Yaya and Ferdi knew what they were doing and generally the rest of the team had come up to speed with the pressing game.

Apart from that ill though out plan coupled with taking the tenacity of teams in the English league for granted umpteen times till he woke up, he is doing a great job.

We will get there.. I really like the guy, he was just a fucking cock for being too arrogant. It showed and it cost us a lot of points.
I am not satisfied by that in a big way.

How can anybody be very satisfied? To me, as it's top pf the shop, that statement refers to us being top of the league, maybe a close 2nd, whilst doing well in the CL, ie. showing well against the only team in our league.

On the scale that's given then I'd have thought that most can be only satisfied whilst those that are getting all giddy chose 'Very Satisfied' just to be over-the-top to counter those who only come on to moan?

We're a strange bunch, ain't we.

Well it could be that.

Or it could be that people are changing their views on a regular basis, which is what the OP stated was the aim of the thread?

BBS - No offence, but a lot of your posts to do with the manager come across as someone sticking to their guns, knowing you were wide of the mark targeting him personally and now feeling like you've gone too far to back down in any way.

Maybe it isn't the case, maybe I'm the only one who thinks it... but there seems to be a bit of anger towards pellegrini. That to me just seems weird when we're only beginning to learn about him now.

I'd be with them if we tightened up the defence, whether we won a trophy or not.

I've always put football style as a priority & we have it. I just think we could have done it without being shit at the back, but I understand why some people are loving it.

Don't be silly, I like the guy, he is doing a great job motivating players, well most of them anyway.
He got it wrong at the start, I don't believe he should have or needed to.
I'm not going to change that view, tbh no-one has argued with it either.
I'm happy to change my sense of satisfaction with him, I'm waiting to do so and I will.

I'm not angry at him cocking up a perfectly good defensive system by introducing too much change at once, I'm just highly dissatisfied.
Hope that clears up any ambiguity :)

To be honest I just love watching City play entertaining football. Football is after all entertainment. I'd find myself leaving the ground with a really vacant and numb sense of happiness if I had to watch us frequently bore out shite 1-0 wins. Obviously I love City being successful but it isn't fun is it? I'd honestly sacrifice a few wins and drop a few points here and there over the course of a season if it meant we were great to watch. Risky and possibly naive, but i really couldn't care less. Give me this brand of football any day.

Most fans should be very satisfied with a manager who gets their team to score 12 goals in 2 games. It's pretty rare.

we're playing great stuff, and if we keep up scoring and winning with style we'll move up the table and stay there, and be in with a shot in all the cups. the final piece to being completely satisfied is stability over the long run for me.

I think you're missing my point, wen the thread was started in was at a time when we were up and down so the Poll reflected the opinion at the time. We must've set our stall out low as I'd now expect to see something like this:

Disatisfied
Satisfied
Very Satisfied
Highly Satisfied
Stupendous!

If you know what I mean?

We need a new Poll ;-)

Attacking. Very satisfied.
Defending. Not satisfied.

Yes we have scored lots of goals lately and look great going forward passing and pressing much better now, our pressing, movement and passing is much better than last season, but our defending is still poor at times and the uncertainty around goalkeeping situation is hardly beneficial.

What if in his pre match conference he is asked about Youngs dive and he replies with something along the lines of
"He is a cheat and it has obviously come from the management of the club who need to take a long hard look at themselves. I dont condone diving and if my players do it they will be fined and dropped. you have my word on this"
Unlikely i know but wouldnt it be brilliant as even the rag media couldn't argue with that

I would go that far. I”ve seen some performances so far that i didn”t see in all of the years Bobby was here. He needs to get adjusted fast of what will happen when we play away from home: biased refs, bus parking and cheating cunts.

Imho, he must get rid asap of the dead wood and we all know a couple of two that will rather be sandwich makers at Subway that footballers playing for City.
