From what I saw of the highlights last night Pogba had an excellent game and is definitely a player we should be keeping tabs on

Didn't he leave the rags? Anyway turning out to be a very good player.

For some reason Dzeko annoys the shit out off me.

He knows where the net is, but that's about it.

More often than not you could literally substitute him within the first 10 minutes off a game, because by that time you can tell by his body language if he can be arsed to put a shift in or not. Too many times he plays with a face like a smacked arse ,strolling around the pitch at a leisurely pace, regularly bottling out off 50/50 balls and theatrically throwing himself to the ground at any sort of contact. For a big strapping center forward its a bit off a joke. No idea why he is like this, to me he comes across as a sulky, petulant character, like I said it annoys me.

He has slipped down the pecking order now. There is a real chemistry developing with Kun and the Beast, which I believe is developing in to a formidable partnership. They both play very unselfishly, team players.

I think Dzeko might be moved on January because I just don't see him being happy at being 3rd choice striker. He only has himself to blame, Pellegrini gave him a great shot at establishing himself in the team, it was not long before those lazy arsed performances resurfaced.

There is no such thing as 'body launguage'.

I was told this a while ago regarding Balotelli. Apparently, it is impossible for anyone to look at a players mannerisms & attitude & gain any impression as to their possible contribution in any given game. Unless of course the people who told me that are fucking clueless, but surely not.

If there was such a thing as 'body language' though, I would agree with you 100% re Dzeko. Usually, when he looks half arsed & like he's about to have a stinker, he has one. If he looks lively, he usually has a great game.

He can have an absolute nightmare & still score the winner though.

If he took on the attitude Nasri has done, Negredo would have a real battle on his hands. I still hope that will happen.

I agree, usually when he is playing bad he scores which sort off makes any valid points about his over all performance a bit off a contradiction. You could argue the point he is a striker,he plays, he scores, everything else is irrelevant,it would be a valid point.I think City expect a bit more energy and enthusiasm in his performances.I think Negredo has it in buckets,Dzeko does not, that's the difference.Obviously our manager has similar sentiments or Dzeko would be first choice.

'I need to play': Edin Dzeko pleads with Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini for game time
8 Nov 2013 22:30

The Bosnian striker has told the Manchester City boss to give him a chance, and insists England is yet to see the best of him

Edin Dzeko has revealed his desire to play more for the club this season.

Dzeko has not started a Premier League game for City since late September, while the form of fellow strikers Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo has seen the battle for starting places become more competitive than ever.

And the Bosnia striker admitted substitute appearances in the Premier League, coupled with occasional run-outs in the Champions League and Capital One Cup, were not enough to feed his appetite to play as much football as possible.

“It could be better on both sides, for me and the team, definitely,” said Dzeko, when asked to assess the season so far.

“There are a lot of players and everyone has to get a chance to play, so maybe that’s why. Who knows?

“But I need to play more than I am. I’ve only started four games in the Premier League. But if you put me in there for 90 minutes, everything is possible.

“The first game of the season I played well, I just didn’t score. The second game I scored, then the manager changed me. I don’t know why.

“Then in the third game he changed me at half-time. Again, I don’t know why. The team played badly in the first-half, for sure, but it’s always on the strikers if it doesn’t go well.

“So I think I could definitely have played more than I have done. It’s difficult because you don’t have a run of games, then you come into the team after maybe four games and sometimes you want to do well, but you can’t do it.

“For three games in the Premier League I didn’t play at all. That never happened last season. I didn’t go three games without any minutes.

“There’s Champions League and Capital One Cup also, but that’s not enough for me.

“It’s important to hear from the manager when you’re not playing. Why are you not playing? What do you have to do better to play? So we’re talking about that.

“For every striker it’s important to play 90 minutes, not 45, then 50, then maybe 15, you know? But I’m still here and I still have 18 months left on my contract. But you never know what can happen in the future.”

Despite being frustrated at not playing as much as he would like, Dzeko said there was no bad feeling towards his fellow strikers.

“It’s competitive but when we play together or when Negredo or Aguero play instead of me, then I wish them the best,” said Dzeko.

“When we play together and I see one of them free to score a goal, I’ll always pass to him. It’s not like ‘I don’t want them to score’. Of course there’s competition and everyone wants to play, but we’re team-mates.”

Dzeko joined City in January 2011 for £27million, a Bundesliga winner with Wolfsburg and the top scorer in Germany in 2009-10. Although he has an impressive record of 46 goals in 118 appearances for City, Dzeko said England has yet to see the best of him.

“I think that’s definitely true,” said Dzeko. “I’ve always had some good games, some good parts of the season, but it’s always been up and down, never really consistent. Maybe that’s because I’ve never played consistently.”

With City having lost three of their first 10 Premier League games this season, Dzeko admitted there is little further margin for error from them if they want to reclaim the title they won in such dramatic style on the last day of the season in 2012.

Individual errors have cost City games they should have won and Dzeko conceded they must iron those out if they are to elbow their way back into title contention and remain there until the defining moment of the season next May.

“We definitely have to improve in terms of concentration, right to the end of games,” said Dzeko. “Mistakes happen, that’s part of football. You can’t erase that.

“But the problem is it didn’t happen just once. It’s happened two or three times in away games, first at Cardiff, then Aston Villa, where we should never have lost, then at Chelsea. Now we’re six points behind Arsenal, we can’t drop any more points before Christmas.”

In his recently-released autobiography, former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed City’s players eased off the season after they won the title, making it easier for his side to reclaim the trophy in his final season in charge.

“Maybe we just thought, after winning the league, the next season will be easier,” said Dzeko. “But the next season is always harder and it was true.

“At point point, the season after we won the title, we were 15 points behind United. It’s not that they were a better team, but we just lost too many easy points.”

Despite going backwards themselves last season, Dzeko claimed United have lost their major weapon in Ferguson, claiming it could take them some time to adjust to life without their legendary former boss.

“United, with Ferguson, was always a different team,” said Dzeko. “With Ferguson they were just...I don’t know. Maybe other teams were scared of them.

“He’s a legend and United definitely need some time to adjust to the football without Ferguson. That will take time. And this year there will be a minimum of five or six teams going for the title.

“Arsenal are playing well, Chelsea with Mourinho will do well and United, even if they’re struggling now, are always dangerous. We’re there, six points back, but there are still so many games to play.

“Tottenham have some new players, Liverpool are playing well, so this year will be very interesting.”

Exactly the same kind of veiled threat he gave to Mancini.

If the theme of this interview had Dzeko saying " I will work as hard as I can & try to get my place back " I would be very optimistic.

As it is, the theme of the interview is " I don't understand why I'm not playing more ".

He watches Negredo playing right in front of him, & he can't understand what the difference is; he doesn't get it.

Spot on Ted.

I see it the same way, does not even acknowledge that he is 3rd choice striker because HE IS the 3rd choice striker based on his performances. If he did this he would then be able to understand why he is sat on the bench, and he can then begin to address the problem, rather than thinking he has a divine right to start regardless.

He puzzles the fuck out of me he really does. Some games he pulls off a shot and grabs a great goal then others his work rate looks half hearted and he looks disinterested. Can't sum him up. If we get Jovetic one hundred per cent I wouldnt be arsed if he gets fucked off. Guidetti (again if fit) could fill the fourth striker role.
Massive plus if he went...... someone else would toodle off here and follow where ever he goes!

Beefymcfc wrote:Glad I didn't comment earlier on this as the story didn't quite meet the quotes. Dzeko admits that he went to see Khaldoon, no real problem with that as at least he wasn't causing trouble, just airing a concern. However, the Mirror reported it in a manner to infer that he was part of a dressing room rebellion, mentioning 3 other players fro last season. This obviously asn't the case but the Mirror still conveyed it in a way that makes our club look bad.

After all the uproar from the media about this dressing room rebellion, we are still to hear real proof of all out war. In fact, I'd suggest there's been more come out to state the exact opposite. A few faces pushed out like Hart, Lescott, Dzeko and somewhat Kompany, but from what I've heard the majority didn't have a problem, just those who weren't playing or were criticised for various misdemeanours.

I can tell you categorically, that your supposition isn't true.

You can add Nasri, Aguero, Micah, Garcia to that list. Mancini was involved in daily slanging matches with various players in the offices at Carrington which, regardless of Mancini's right to bollock a player for a poor performAnce in a game or training, were unprofessionally dealt with and really amounted to not much different to bullying.

Everybody at the club, from the coaches, the admin staff and most of the players fucking detested him.

The only surprise to me in that context is how long it actually took before people inside the club began to brief against Mancini in the media.

That those affected haven't come out in the media to twist the knife into Mancini shows a degree of restraint that I didn't expect, although the club held a meeting after Mancini had been fired and asked the players to consider the clubs reputation when speaking to the media over the summer, and also consider how they could be portrayed as trouble makers if their own roles in Mancini's reign was to emerge.

Why the media are brining it up again now mystifies me though.

But if dzeko is still moaning, about the last manager, this manager, does he really not get the connection? Is he really that stupid?

Sparty,

What you say so categorically may well be true, but it is grossly unjust to make such specific accusations against someone's character without bringing evidence to the table.

We complain bitterly when the media do such things and it seems only proper that we don't fall into the media's bad habits.

I would be very interested to see such evidence.
